I'll be waiting for the co-op patch before I pick this game up.
is it bright? yes. is it colourfull? hell yes. is it stylistically awesome? hell yes... is it a technical marvel??? not really.
Don't get me wrong KORNdog, I'm not arguing with you, but "bright", "colourful" and "stylistically awesome" are the reasons I'm buying Fable 2. I don't give a damn how technical it is behind the scenes, I'm not reeeaally after cutting edge gameplay as long as it's just good solid fun.
Also there is nothing technically not impressive about dynamic shadowed light beams, stunningly modelled and detailed trees and foliage, 50+ NPC's on screen all self shadowed, houses without a loading time like Oblivion etc
It is a artistic and technical marvel actually

Actually Fable 2 is cutting edge technically, textures are great, polygon counts is through the roof, has the best looking forests i have seen this generation too

but then that doesnt matter when artistically it looks so great. art style can make up for technical shortcomings. so its all good
Poly count looks realy great for a open world game like this.
KORNdog i thnik u r a Super PS3 fanboy!
Poly count looks realy great for a open world game like this.
I think this game looks fantastic, what everyone has to realise is everyone can have there own views, i love how it looks as do many others inc the gameing sites, so to each there own.
- dynamic shadowed light beams
- shaders everywhere
- translucency in tree leaves
- shadows from every single leaf on every other
- 50+ NPC's on screen self shadowed
- huge landscapes fulled with detailed trees, forests, cities and houses with no loading
.. is not considered technically impressive
Actually Fable 2 is one of the most technically impressive games this gen, they just forcus on other things than best textures, and that is exactly what makes the art look so sweet
Ugh. 2 weeks and all we get continually is screenshots
gameplay videos look much better, atleast in country side,
the town also doesn`t look impressive...

That said, it's going to be one of the few SP games I actually pick up because if it's anything like the first, I know I'll enjoy it tons.
i was talking visually. not gameplay wise. stylistically its awesome, as you said its the reason you're buying the game, but the game isnt technically great looking, in terms of poly count or texture resolution. as i said tho, im looking forward to it.
Do you look at a painting based on how many paint-molecules there are, or based on the actual artwork?
Do you listen to music because of how many vibrating atoms are generated in your room, or because of the art in the song itself?
Do you read a book based on how many words there are, or based on how the story is?
Nuff said, i think i made my point :)
Technical stuff is pointless. Its the artistic style that matters, and its all that matters.
Look at the old over-used-in-comparisons WoW, it has craptacularly low-res textures and low-poly models, yet some enviroments look truly amazing, artistically.
Obviously newer gen games are gonna look nicer than old-gen games, due to better technology etc. Such as softer lighting, softer grass and trees, less flat shaders and stuff.
But comparing current-gen to current-gen tech is pointless. Its what they do with the tech that matters.
I'd rather look at Fable 2 than Crysis, which is a technical marvel, but still looks like shit. Its like comparing a painting with a blueprint. Blueprints have no soul.
