Looks pretty cool so far

Also they say true 3d because rarely do RTS use completely 3d environments

I don't understand what you mean with that.

I think he means that although most of the RTS games nowadays use a 3d engine, which doesn't affect the gameplay nontheless...

Ooooo- Ambushes! Me likey this. This is real, boots-on-ground stragegy. Kinda like an expanded Full Spectrum Warrior! I'll be keeping an eye on this one...

Looks like they just copied the camera/play mechanics from Pandemic's Full Spectrum Warrior and took it to it's most logical conclusion - controlling an RTS with it.

It's not exactly "new", but it is a fresh approach to using something that Pandemic created last-gen, but did not know what to do with it beyond the franchise they created it for.

Full Spectrum Warrior being one of those very few, "non-classifiable" games, a hybrid between a strategy game and a shooter, it should be very interesting to see the results of taking it's control and camera dynamic to a purely RTS platform.

"a change is coming to RTS on consoles".. how many times have we heard that in the past 2 years?

This game looks nice..but has anybody ever actually taken into consideration that rts games dont do well on console not simply due to control schemes but the genre itself? it seems like each developer is suddenly pushing rts games at us when in all likely hood its a genre that will never perform well for the console gamer market thats every increasingly pushing towards the "casual" something rts games go against.

i think thats why they're trying a new approach. halo wars has imo refined the traditional RTS controls to a point where it cant really improve. these guys however are actually approaching the genre itself in a whole different way to hopefully appeal to more people. and hopefully it works.

i mean, for me, a person who doesnt like traditional RTS's, already this is looking a damn sight more appealing (well, except for the uninspired art) then something like C&C.

halo wars has essentially made traditional RTS's bearable for someone like me.

this game however genuinely has a chance to make me enjoy it. after all i enjoyed full spectrum warrior and that was essentually an RTS but on a much smaller and much more focused scale.

i dont like resource management and unit management, it's a chore for me. but halo wars managed to similify it so it was fast and easy. im hoping this takes it to the next stage and actually makes it genuinely enjoyable.

To be honest, I much prefer the way both Ubi went with EndWar and the way these guys go with Stormrise. Traditional RTS doesn't do well on consoles, and that is how it is always going to be. It's impossible to try to port over a genre which is so incredibly bound to the keyboard + mouse control scheme.

Even though I'm not that big of a fan of RTS games (I play them, but I prefer shooters and RPGs), but I will still be looking forward to this game. Hell, I may even buy it simply to support the developers who are actually trying to create something new in this copy + paste infected world.
