as droezelke said, the gameplay footage looked terrible, with glitchy animations and a generally very unpolished looking game, environment textures and stuff looked good from what you could see (it was cam footage over at GT if you're interested) but my god the gameplay looks boring. it's like a mixture of motorstorm and pure which you'd think would be amazing, but no, it looks boring.
Isn't the graphics-thing a result of having huge open worlds, instead of cramped circuits? I mean, GT5P looks amazing, but just a few feet off the track, 3D is replaced by photographs...
I, for one, am really looking forward to this one. Open world + extreme racing = awesome
Looks awesome to me. Lightning hangs around longer if there's more energy to discharge, and considering the earth has more or less been destroyed and global warming has led to extreme weather conditions... I'd expect the lightning to stick around longer.
I've also seen the gameplay videos and I think it looks pretty good. The motorbike one was slightly dull but the ATV and buggy videos seemed fun enough. The graphics obviously aren't up there with Pure and Motorstorm, and it doesn't seem to have any real stunts, but gameplay-wise I'll probably prefer it over Motorstorm at least, which I found about as interesting as peeling the skin off my face.

I couldn't have said it better, a shame. Codemasters has gone to crap over the last few years.
