Looks very interesting but this game should not have been announced until about sept 2011 since its coming out in 2012.

Yea.. Though I am guessing it'll drop back behind the curtains soon we won't hear about for another year. It's just a brief pre-hype marketing tactic.

just downloaded it off live - the gameplay-trailer is absolutely stunning! Interesting, some guys on Joystiq claim it's already finished, but Take2 doesn't wanna get in the way of CoD and such ... bummer

...Retro style, check. Utopian society gone down the shitter, check. Big Daddy, check. Shooting fire from your hand, check. Yeah, seems like a really unique and interesting game.

Love it!

The entire concept of Bioshock is great, just let us play as a human and not some big bulky weird character.

Exactly! Bioshock 2 made 2 big mistakes:

1. Playing as a big daddy.
2. Having the game take place in Rapture again.

It's the sequel that should not have been. I said it after I played the first, and still feel the same way now. You can't have a Bioshock 2 in the same context as Bioshock 1. It destroys the charm of the game, namely: A sense of wonder for the unique atmosphere and setting.

Bioshock Infinite definitely does a much better job at this, but it's still not the enitrely new project I was hoping for from Levine. But, I must say I am excited for this after seeing the gameplay video. It's Bioshock, but it still feels fresh and a floating city is an instant win!

Again, not what I had hoped for. But if there had to be a Bioshock sequel, this would be it. This is Bioshock 2.

And at the risk of slightly contradicting myself: This one might actually work...

Saw the trailer and it looks great. Incredibly dynamic, to the point where it looks like a movie. If I can get that same feeling whilst playing, I'll be very impressed.

I'd really want to see the trailer, can't wait for tomorrow when they release it for the rest.

Here's some info about the engine:
The original BioShock and its sequel were based on a heavily-modified version of Unreal Engine 2, with elements of Unreal Engine 3 ported in. That was capable of handling Rapture’s narrow corridors and enclosed spaces, but it wasn’t enough for BioShock Infinite’s city in the clouds. The team is building the game purely on Unreal Engine 3 this time around, alongside a whole new slew of necessary additions. Those enhancements support Infinite’s large airborne exterior environments, new lighting models, more complex AI interactions with NPCs and companion character Elizabeth, and much more.

the gameplay footage looks v-cool, unlike bioshock 2 which was just plain boring. i kinda have my doubts about it, like megido, it's all very "been there done that", despite the location change. i just hope it brings more to the table then what they've done neumerous times already in various other titles from them. cos atm, irrational are coming across as a bit of a one trick pony. but we'll see i guess.

also, i lol'd when all the guys getting electricuted had identical animations. it was like a choreographed dance troupe...lol

The only thing in the "gameplay" (let's face it, no way was that actual gameplay) that showed any sort of promise was using combinations of plasmids to creat the thunder storm or the big ball of molten crap, but let's face it...the rainstorm was just shooting lightning in to water in bioshock and the other one just the telekinesis plasmid from Bioshock. I mean really, i was whining about Halo Reach being a bit too "same old" but compared to this, i take back any complaints i had about that. The weapons, enemies, plasmids, setting...it's all the same in a new packaging for fucks sake.

Imagine that they made a new Terminator movie. Terminator 5. The movie has all teh same characters, with all teh same dialogue, doing all the same things as in Terminator 2 only they aren't in an american cityscape, they are in an american suburb instead. That is this game to me. It rips it self off so horribly that you can barely call it a sequel.

To be fair though, i assume that ehre will be more stuff in the game, but these bloody movies are what's supposed to make me go "Oh wow, i can't wait to play that!" Whwewas my only reaction is "Why do they think i'd want to buy biochock twice?".
