Our videos of Syndicate

Our videos of Syndicate

When Starbreeze announced they were working on a sort of reboot of Syndicate but that it was going to be a first person shooter, fans of Bullfrog's action/strategy game started to worry. In the end, aside from the cyberpunk universe, it is true that there is very little from the original game left here. All we have is basically a standard action game whose story is not even compelling. Thankfully, the shooting feels good and the DART system brings a few cool features like the possibility to make your enemies commit suicide. That being said, it is not quite sure it will be enough convince the players as it is a pretty generic shooter. The co-op mode is a nice addition though, so it really depends on what you're looking for in a game. Here are a bunch of videos of the campaign mode.

It's holding the tone of the original true here. Corporations have taken over the world, we've lost the human revolution unlike in Deus Ex where it's just starting, and is more nihilistic about it. If you're not chipped, you might as well not exist. You're playing a drone hitman of a corporation, has no personality, and is just there to get the business done. No moralising of his evil actions.

If you play it like a normal shooter, you'll be toast especially in the co-op.

World-wise, yes, but as far as gameplay mechanics go, it is nothing like the original game. Just imagine what Tomb Raider would be like if it were to become a first person shooter. Syndicate is not a bad game, but it certainly isn't great either, especially considering the number of good shooters which have already been released.

It's a FPS, so that's obvious.

I would love to see how you would react if Rayman Origins was getting a sequel in the form of a FPS. :D

I have been pleasantly suprised by this game, it is in no way a proper syndicate game, but it is a really solid and somewhat original shooter, great co-op mode too.

Its a nice game, but I would prefer sort of Syndicate remastered in isometric HD, new sounds and everything and of course...mouse-clickable. :-)

as a First-Person Platformer? I liked Mirror's Edge, so maybe I'd be open to the idea! I'm not as rigid on what genre a franchise should be, as I'm not the maker.

Yea too many people are getting hung up on the perspective that games are played in... syndicate requires the player to play with strategy and use all their abilities rather than just shoot... If they made Rayman a first person platformer (Like digi said), so long as it was good it shouldn't realy matter, after all they made it into a third person platformer from a 2d platformer! the perspective of the game should not be the issue!

ALso I think as a shooter it plays great too but the breaching mechanic adds great strategy!

Is this Xbox 360 or PC? The bloom is disgusting.

Seth @Moonwalker: i know that. But they should have better solution for this. All of the replayability of the game goes right in the shitter in current state. What's the point having score attack..... (2 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker The beginning is very similar to Dead Space indeed, but i really do like this atmosphere man and that mech part is good looking. (2 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker in the review that the cutscenes can't be skipped. An explanation for that could be that alot of loading screens are hidden in these cutscenes, thats what he said. (2 Hours ago)
  • Seth
Seth @Moonwalker: So now is Dead Space clone lol?Capcom clearly don't know what to do with this franchise. (2 Hours ago)
