Only optimus remains? Funny. Please don't lump in with the fanboys that went over to the playstation side of the forum and trolled ps3 games, because I sure as heck wasn't one of them. I was respectful of all platforms at all times. I've never trolled any particular console on this forum. And I'm pretty positive that I qualified the absolute least as an xbot when this site was purely an xbox fan forum. I came to this forum with no attachment whatsoever to any existing Xbox franchises, including Halo. What got me to register on this site was Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey info and discussion, and what got me to buy a 360 was those same two Sakaguchi jrpgs. I would never have given the 360 a second thought without those two games.

In fact, Phaethon, you're the very person who got me to give Halo a chance by introducing me to the universe and characters through the books. I wouldn't have even bought Mass Effect If not for people on this very forum convincing me to give Kotor a shot, to get a feel for what their games are like and which direction Mass Effect could take, because the fact that Mass Effect even had guns at all initially turned me off bigtime. I "remain" because I was known for doing other things, and trolling other platforms and their games sure as heck wasn't one of them. I'm stubborn when defending a game I'm interested in or like, but that's about it.

thing is i did not play many of last years games till now, i got a bit behind.
And out the few SHIT games i played that come out last year, Halo 4 was the least shit Sp was great, but i will be honest, i'm tired of defending this game with the whole "single player was great" thing..
Multiplayer was dog shit.

Well, these things, regardless of what gaming media thinks, are hardly ever scientific exercises or without flaws. They are always based purely on individual opinion, which, by design, is never perfect, and that extends every bit as much to the gaming media as it does any gaming forum. There is no right or wrong answer here. For example, there's one other game that I enjoyed even more than Halo 4 in 2012, and that was Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, a game that close to half the gaming media didn't even feel warranted a review, which is stunning for one of the most amazing jrpg games since the ps1 days, but hardly unexpected. So, that tells you all you need to know about the gaming media. Their opinion is no more important than our own.

That said, as you can see, Xenoblade Chronicles is down in 23rd place, because I knew for a fact that a jrpg, no matter how unbelievable it was, wouldn't get very much support on this forum, so I gave the top honors to another game that I felt was not only completely deserving of GOTY honors in my eyes, but also one that I was certain would receive more support on this forum, and of course I was correct. Even so, I think Halo 4 clearly deserves this, and apparently so does most of the forum. Halo 4's campaign is one of the absolute best for any FPS this generation. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if the singleplayer campaign is more directly responsible for most of these Halo 4 votes than is the case for the MP.

Considering majority people think and expressed that the MP is complete shite, that's kind of obvious...lol

Both games are clearly deserving of GOTY in my personal opinion. There is such a thing possible that you could play more than one game during the same year that you thoroughly believe deserves to be GOTY. I thought Halo 4's campaign was fantastic and the best the franchise has ever done as far as a campaign is concerned. I've said that on this forum time and time again. However, I've also always been a bigger fan of jrpgs than any other genre of games, so I was naturally going to enjoy such an amazing jrpg more than anything else released during that year, but just because I enjoyed it more, because it was more to my personal taste, doesn't somehow make Halo 4, another game I absolutely loved that year, any less of a GOTY candidate in my eyes.

In the year when everyone was saying Bioshock was their 2007 game of the year, I disagreed and thought Blue Dragon was my game of the year, the same year that other games that I loved, Mass Effect, Halo 3 and COD4 were also released. The big difference that year, to me, was that no other game came close to Blue Dragon, so my GOTY choice was much more simple. It's a testament to how good I thought Halo 4's campaign was that it could come close enough to Xenoblade Chronicles, a game I admit to liking just a bit more and for which I have a genre bias (jrpg > all), for me to actually feel comfortable enough making it my top pick.

Put in a situation where I legitimately have two or more clear choices, and one of those two choices has literally no chance in hell of being properly represented in voting, then I will choose the more popular of my personal choices if I legitimately liked it enough in comparison to my other options. I also believe we were allowed to vote for up to 5 games, and Xenoblade Chronicles did get my vote also. I may be one of the people responsible for why it's even on the list.

Nope, he's trying to suggest that I don't really believe Halo 4 is good enough to be my personal GOTY simply because I liked Xenoblade Chronicles more, and he would be incorrect about. Xenoblade Chronicles, my other personal GOTY worthy candidate, had literally no chance in hell of being properly represented in voting on this forum, which is a travesty in itself, and so I put my vote to better use for a game that, in my eyes, was every bit as deserving of a GOTY honor and wouldn't be grossly underrepresented in voting.

This poll is opinion, folks. A decision had to be made among the games I enjoyed the most, and a decision was made. :)

And I kinda already fully experienced just how amazing Xenoblade Chronicles was in 2011, thanks to the European version of the game and a Wii emulator. I just happened to rebuy the American version of the game in 2012 also. I think it has pretty much always been this way, but, for one reason or another, people are only now coming around to the truth. The lion's share of the Halo franchises praise has always mostly been due to the SP campaign than was the case for the MP. Halo, in my view, has pretty much always been a fairly average MP game with a great to incredible SP component, so that's why I sorta find all the drama about the MP recently so interesting, but, again, that's just my opinion.So, it's impossible for a person to think more than one game deserves GOTY? And does it really bother people so much to see Halo 4 win that they are prepared to make a fuss over something so innocent as which games I enjoy and then making a decision that is purely my own? Come on, we're better than that. My preference of Xenoblade Chronicles over Halo 4 has little to do with the quality of both games from my perspective, but a natural bias I have towards jrpgs, especially impressive ones such as that.

Incredible jrpg vs incredible FPS. I'll always like the incredible jrpg more, but this takes nothing from the fact that I still think Halo 4 deserves GOTY, every bit as much as I would think Xenoblade Chronicles deserves it if it had won, which it literally had zero chance of doing.

I find it genuinely hilarious general consensus is effecting a list based on personal opinion. If you think a game is better, you vote for it. That's the point of the list. If i think the new earth defence force was the best game this year, i'm going to put it at my #1. Who cares whether 99.9% of the forum votes for GTA5 and my vote has no chance of winning. If everyone thought like you the underdog would never ever win...which is pretty sad tbh.

LOL It's not an either or situation, as far as I'm concerned. I personally feel both games were incredible and equally deserving of GOTY honors. It means not a damn thing that I enjoyed one more than the other solely due to the fact I more naturally gravitate towards jrpgs than any other genre. It doesn't somehow invalidate my enjoyment of Halo 4, as much as you and some others would like to believe it does, sorry.

And considering I'm one of the few people that's actually willing to defend Halo 4 as an unbelievable game on this forum and have done so consistently since the game's release, even stating on multiple occasions that I think it's the best Halo campaign ever made and also one of the best games this generation, one would be hard pressed to consider me, of all people, casting a GOTY vote for Halo 4 as somehow proof of me falling in line with the general consensus. 95% of the time I am the "general consensus" on Halo 4 on this forum, which is what makes this line of criticism especially rich lol.

I'm literally the 4th person in that thread to give Halo 4 a #1 vote, hardly a sign that Halo 4 is running away with the thing, so I better get on board fast. Most important, you'll notice that in both my lists, Xenoblade gets a vote, but first in 3rd and then in 4th. As to why it's in 3rd and 4th, that's because I was practically already playing the EU version I bought since 2011 and I didn't want to put it over proper 2012 releases, even though I also bought the NA version in 2012 just to support the game and to convince Nintendo to bring Last Story to the USA also. Didn't feel right putting NBA 2K over it, however. On a second look, I'm the only person that voted for Xenoblade, which comes as no surprise lol. I woulda been happy with any game on my list as GOTY, but I knew it was only realistic for a few of them. I'm perfectly happy with my picks though.

Followed the below instructions to hack my USA Wii to make it play the euro version of the game, and I also setup dolphin emu on my pc to play the game with better graphics.

And, really, who gives a crap about the underdog winning? You think I didn't know full well that picking Final Fantasy 4 for the Ipad as my #2 was an underdog pick? You think for a second I actually genuinely believed FF4 on the Ipad had the second best shot of winning after Halo 4? What does this boil down to? *gasp* get ready... I picked the games that I wanted to pick, and I picked them in the order that I wanted to pick them in for my own reasons. Wonder why I don't talk about Xenoblade very much on this forum. Because there's no damn point to doing so. It honestly didn't matter where in my list Xenoblade was, so long as it was there. This isn't a life altering decision, you know. If a game I enjoyed a great deal isn't going to be properly represented to my satisfaction, then I have absolutely no qualms giving my top vote to an equally deserving title that I feel will be represented to my satisfaction. I didn't pick Halo 4 thinking it would win, especially with the hate the game gets. I picked Halo 4 because it's one of the best fucking games this generation. The fact that it won on top of this fact is just golden, as far as I'm concerned.
