XBLA: Boom Boom Rocket today

It's Boom Boom Rocket's turn to be released this week on Xbox Live Arcade. I'v really enjoyed playing this game on the debug XBLA the last few weeks, so I really recommend giving this game a try. Thankfully you can download the demo for free! New images inside.
Update: XCN just sent us this nice interview of Craig Howard, Design Manager on BBR. As always it's an interesting read.

The first 10 minutes: Boom Boom Rocket

Boom Boom Rocket is often compared to Fantavision, a PS2 launch title, but except for the actual firewors these two titles don't have much in common. Boom Boom Rocket is much closer a Konami Rhythm-game than anything else, even if it has some elements that help differentiate it too. I'll let you watch this first video of my favorite song, followed tonight by another one, and you'll get even more footage in the next Gamersyde Diaries, hopefully released soon!
It's the first time we've been allowed to released some footage before a XBLA title was released, so many thanks to Bizarre and EA for this!
Update: As promised, here is the second video. More in GSD5!

Images of Boom Boom Rocket and Schizoid

Microsoft released a few new images of XBLA games during the GDC, first for the now well known Boom Boom Rocket, and also for the quite strange looking Schizoid.

Boom Boom Rocket for XBLA

It's a small surprise, but why not after all. Electronic Arts announced the release this spring of Boom Boom Rocket, a Xbox Live Arcade title developed by Bizarre Creations. It certainly looks like it shares a few things with Geometry Wars, but I'm certainly not complaining at all. First screen inside.

What's up?
  • KORNdog
KORNdog for me the more important games in VR are the ones from indie studio's who are conceptually not playing it safe, they're experimental and unique and are offering experiences we wouldn't get otherwise (26 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog but for consumers it's one of the most "standard" experiences in VR in the sense its a normal game we're accustomed to. (28 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @MrWhite: i'd actually consider RE7 to be one of the safer experiences in VR becasue it is a mainstream title. i mean, it's added work from capcoms point of view (29 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @GriftGFX: looks a bit like Audioshield, which is good fun. [url] (1 Hour ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth engines to get good results. graphics hardware would also need more than a few changes. I think this will the biggest hurdle to get devs to support VR (1 Hour ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth and some of them not that far away. problem is more on the software side. eye-tracking with foveated rendering doesn't work well with traditional rasterization, and would require fully rewritten (1 Hour ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @MrWhite: wireless HMD, inside-out tracking. great for convenience. Eye tracking+4K'ish displays, improved clarity without (potentially) killing performance. important for the VR onwards. (1 Hour ago)
