I am buying the regular version on PS3 this thursday when its out.
I have seen enough videos of variety of new stuff they have added in and it looks like this is what AC1 should have been like in terms of gameplay features.

But anyways I have heard that Altair will return for a bit that you can control him, I would love it if they made a character skin for us to use him for AC2 that alone is enough for me to buy it.

Nice review, I'm quite impressed with how far Ubisoft went to try and fix everything I hated about the first game. I barely got a quarter of the way through AC1 but there's enough of an improvement here to make me buy the sequel... that's what I call successful game developing.

I just hope the PS3 version holds up well, I had the first one on 360 but I'm switching over due to the PSP game connectivity and extra weapons.

I only read the conclusion and I am not watching the videos. Your conclusion has lifted my excitment. I still wont be buying now, I simply can NOT afford anymore games after the huge hole the PS3 left. Have plenty to play till January. Thanks Blim for the great conclusion (I am sure the review is just as good)

despite these seemingly glowing reviews, i still cant bring myself to buy it. i was going to rent batman : AA but the reviews changed my mind on the matter, this however, despite it's obvious improvments, still looks like more of the repetative same.

Wow, even better sounding than I expected. Now that there is no repetition, this really does sound like one of 2009's must have games.

dude , i was playing it just recently and if you have played the first assassins creed , this is not much different . its got the same climbing , running , etc....
if anyone thinks its different than the first they are gonna get shocked.
its almost identical to the first .
e.g.
climb tower,
go to viewpint where the eagle is (there is always an eagle , coincidence),
missions are highlighted , go to mission ,
do mission,
repeat,
repeat,
repeat,
etc....
money system is a joke , you can keep bumping into people and taking money from them , you never get caught ???

based on those images, textures and LOD is a lot worse on the PS3, although the PS3 seems to have slightly warmer colours (seeing as there is now time of day it's hard to imagine they got the comparrisons totally accurate in that regard)

so no, 360 is the way to go.

What did you expect? A car racing game? A shoot 'em up? Of course there is going to be a lot of climbing around and stuff like that. It's Assassin's Creed. However, I beg to differ, it's not more repetitive than it is in GTA to drive from point A to point B, kill, drive from point B to point A etc.

Have you even played the game? When I played the preview, I got caught stealing and was chased by the guards for some time. But well I guess you know better...

Love it so far. New settings are great, architecture is beautiful. Whats what important its not that repetitive.
