3DS: Handheld gaming's revolution or evolution?

Amazing!
I only wish they added dual analog; it would be ideal to have an analog stick on the right side when playing FPS's, but at least racing games will be in good shape.
(anyone hear anything about analog triggers?)

Definitely getting one but I think I'll wait for the first or second revision.

Can't wait also, I'm curious just how good the 3D effect is, like Megido I don't see the point in the continous recycling of software.

Saying that, now is the time for a Final Fantasy 7 remake.

Won't be buying it for Nintendo games anyways, Persona 3D sounds good to me.

OMG, YES! You just know a Final Fantasy 7 remake is going to come to the 3DS. Improved graphics, here we come!

It's definitely a gaming revolution, in my view. Remember all the insane kinds of titles that came out on the DS? Just imagine what will come now that the 3DS has power enough to make games that look like Kid Icarus and MGS3?

Just imagine how devs are going to take advantage of the 3D capabilities. I want a new Elite Beat Agents on the 3DS!

Um lets not get carried away Optimus, I haven't seen anything yet to say the 3DS is more powerful than the PSP at least graphically.

Although IGN say its eclipses the PSP the video's I have seen so far don't say this to me.

Well, that's the beauty of what has been showcased thus far. These are all first generation 3DS titles, and they already look this amazing. The graphics don't necessarily need to eclipse the psp, but knowing the kinds of creative titles that come to the DS, or just Nintendo handhelds in general, it's hard to come away anything but immensely excited for the future of this system.

Remember "The World Ends With You" on the DS? Basically Square Enix's best game in years, perhaps since the PS1 era, just imagine such a cool game coming to the 3DS with these kinds of graphical capabilities. It no longer becomes about whether it's more powerful than the PSP or not, but for how much more powerful it appears to be than, say, a DS, in addition to the cool 3D effect, you just know anybody that owns a 3DS is in for some truly unbelievable gaming experiences.

This thing is going to smash all sales records ever set by the DS, is what I believe. I'm even also accounting for the possibility of a slow start.

EG says the graphics are on par with PS2/Dreamcast. Given some time I'm sure it can look just as good as the later PS2 games but with added 3D.

Just like Nintendo DS in its day, the GPU is under-powered, but on the flipside this should help immeasurably in maintaining battery life.

The game content has a lenticular look about it, with pixel edges fairly evident despite the seemingly high DPI of the screen.

I'm still a bit sceptical about the whole thing.

yeah. totally. but i have this tendency to make myself THINK i can get into handhelds with every one released only to end up with a very expensive paper weight. i bought into the PSP, and the DS, almost bought into the PSP go and DSi, but i WONT be making the same mistake with this.

Me too. Thing is, I need to keep the games at home. I don't need that temptation. When I'm away from the TV, i should be away from the TV and doing something moderately constructive.
I still don't see how it will change much other than presentation, although It would be interesting to see if it makes 3d platforming better because of the sense of depth...
