http://www.clubskill.com/Game_News/4071/Test Drive: Unlimited Demo 2

Those of you into your 360 Marketplace serial downloading during E3 06 would more than likely have stuffed the Test Drive: Unlimited demo on your hard-drive along with everything else you had in sight. Since that demo was a early version of the game it comes no surprise that a new demo will be hitting the marketplace soon. That date you ask?

Well there is no final date. Just a target one according to an Atari staff member over at their European Forums.

The 20th of August is the rough estimate, which is just 1 or 2 weeks before the release of the full game. So we're assuming it'll be from a final version of the game. What the demo contains remains a mystery but no doubt it will be different to the E3 06 demo.

Excellent...hopefully it will be way better than that last demo and will convince more people to buy it....

I think it would be benefitial for them to do this--especially if the game has improved significantly from E3..that demo left a lot of people with bad impressions of their game..if they've addressed some of the issues from E3 perhaps this is a good way to win people over.

I'm going to be looking for this one. I think TDU has some great ideas..but I'm not convinced that it's well executed at all.

Weird how some developers whine about not having the time to come up with demos "they take an enormous amount of time to polish, etc etc". I don't believe it myself when other devs are coming out with 2 demos.

I'll try the demo and see if they have improved gameplay, doubtful but I'll try it.

It definitely wastes times. The time they are spending to make sure demos run great and finalize whats in it thats valuable time they could be spending on making the final game the best possible product it can be.

Anytime away from a game that is still in development is a bad thing. This is especially true for big titles like Halo 3, Fable 2, MGS4 and many others. Plus as you should know developers releasing or showing early versions of their games can be I remember you being very disappointed with the unfinished demo build of the game and me being extremely disappointed with too human at E3. Wouldn't you prefer to wait till after the game is out and get an actual demo that is representative of the final product rather than a crappy mess of a demo?

Dunno what to expect from this, I believe they are adding HDR which wasn't in the 1st demo, but I doubt they will change the car physics drastically which is my main complaint about this game.
But they most have done something other than adding the HDR in the meantime if they think it's worth another demo?!

Anyway, we'll see how it turns out, and this time no 15 min time limit please!

I'm almost sure they did some tuning to the cars, but whether it'll be as good as people expect it to be is another thing totally.

Ah Jato! I see we agree on something else other than the unnaceptable performance of the Saint's Row demo. I'm also looking forward to see how they change the car physics, from something I thought was last last gen.

well as far as demo time, this game has already been delayed at least a good six months or so from when it was intended to come out

Well, no surprise there really, these things are facts, Saint's Row demo is crap performance and the TDU demo has very cheap car physics, I think most people will agree with this... ;)

Anyway, I do hope they can equal the PGR3 physics, which isn't very realistic according to many people (although it's the most realistic I've ever encountered), but it just handles so perfect, I absolutely love it!
TDU already took over the ever so brilliant cockpit view, so if they can get those car physics tuned properly, I'm in...

No, not a lot of people agree with us on the cheap physics. I remember making a thread when the first demo came out and you'd be surprised to see how many people said the physics were fine/perfect/acceptable/the best.

PGR3 physics the best? The best on next gen systems? Games like Forza 1 had better physics, way better actually. There's very little suspension work on PGR3 among other things, but it's perfectly fine for an arcade racer.

tdu feels very floaty, the cars just dont feel right, its not an arcade racer, its a sim by just about all standards, but the physics just feel slightly off, like theres no downforce, or friction doesnt work, or something like that. it seems like a gallardo going 100 mph should be ably to make a highway turn, doesnt it, but it never does somehow, itll always screech and hit the guardrail, on a turn I could take at that speed in my crappy arse camry.

it's a sim by what standards?

there are cars in it?

TDU is not and definitely is not intended to be a sim racer.

Forza 1 had better physics, can't imagine, but I must have another look at it then cause it's been a while since I played the game.

But what did it for me with PGR3 , especially in cockpit view, is when you are driving and you drift around the corner, you can practically feel the rear end breaking out, and when you accelerate it actually really feels like accelerating.
I dunno, maybe it's the cockpit view that makes up a lot here, but calling it an arcade racer is a bit off, imo, Ridge racer, that's arcade physics...

no, it's arcade. you can't drift a car that well and that easily in real life.

the way the cars controlled in pgr3 was not realistic, it was fun. It wasn't totally faked to the point where you feel like you're driving a box w/ no suspension (TDU demo at it's worst), but it wasn't realistic, get in those cars and drive like that, you'll hit a wall every time.

Lol, obviously it isn't realistic, I mean, how are you gonna make a realistic driving experience looking at a screen with a controller in your hand.

But it's the most realistic driving I've ever encountered in a driving game before...

Then I suppose you don't play many driving games. Try GTR2 demo, Live for Speed, and the other one I mentioned, Forza.

Well, I'm not really on the lookout for racing sim's if that's what you mean, no, but I play what comes on my way.
But yeah, I heard GTR is supposed to be the most realistic driving game and I've indeed never played the game, and I've never heard of Live for Speed.

To add to that, I don't play any pc-games at all, cause I have a retarded GPU.

I'll give Forza 1 another shot, see how that compares to PGR3...

ah, I guess going by the definition that "nothing is realistic if you aren't actually in a real car" then PGR3 is just asm uch of a sim as anything else.

I would say that, going by the definition of "making a turn at xxx speed, pressing the brake the car would react this way" pgr3 is not a sim. If you think thats how cars drive, get in your RWD car and try drifting some time. it's a bit more difficult than PGR would make it seem. but if it were that diffcult in the game most people wouldn't play it.

It's just the controller--I have my Enzo mapped to an X360 joypad and let me tell you--it handles just like in PGR3.
