New Forza 2 thread - UPDATE 4 New Screens from IGN.

Well here's the deal. Since X06, we've been hard at work on two main areas which are central to the core of Forza 2: performance and graphical tuning. That's not to say that other disciplines aren't getting daily progress (such as car models, audio, tuning, and AI) but it seems performance is where most of the system devs are focused on right now -- and it clearly shows.

As a result of a Herculean team effort, this past week, Turn 10's systems architect Chris Tector checked into the latest build some magic code that now renders the game at 60 frames-per-second with most of the post-processing special effects and car HUD turned on. Because Forza 2 is pushing so many polygons and next-gen effects, the team has had a heck of a time pushing the engine to run the game at a locked, butter-smooth, 60 fps.
I was looking on the forza site and since there was some discussion going on in the lsat thread regarding car models I think it should be known that we can't necessarily look on at the car models in the game currently as if they are finished. Keep in mind there are many different things you can add to your car and we aren't sure how they'll look so its probably best not to try and judge the car models now as if thats what it will look like.

Also don't start trolling in this thread it'd be nice for it to stay open. I think its awesome that they've managed to finally hit 60fps with the game I can't wait to see the game in motion again.

Well, on a more positive note, atleast they are aiming for solid performance which should be on top of the priority list, so that's nice to hear indeed..! :D

Wow, best off topic ever. And yeah, who owns the IP!!?!?!?! No one knows it seems. Hopefully it is true and hopefully it is developed by a worthy developer.

Cool, I'm glad they decided to cancel that. So now we are only going to see Gran Turismo 5 right? The REAL one?

He leaves open possibilities for another sort of "prologue", but it's good to know they are focusing on GT5. Now, they better start working on those environments because they look like crap :D

Yeah I know, it's given the project has been basically abandoned though. I'm sure they'll have a very small team working on adding cars or something but nothing special.

I think they made the right decision. Their money and effort is better off doing something from the ground up for the PS3 (I hope that's what they'll be doing)

Yeah. the game appeared from nowhere at E3 and was probably just sort of made up to have something from GT present at E3 .....
