Art style looks nice, but seeing as they stuffed it up with FPS gameplay i think i'll give it a miss.

I'm getting a Counterstrike vibe from the whole concept, and seeing as one of the main reasons that I got fed up with that (aside from squeaking 13-year olds) was the subject matter, the fictional settings here are sure to keep things a little more engaging and varied.

In a lot of ways this isn't entirely unlike Phantasy Star Online, which also had some people miffed at its story-less online hack and slashing, and with the same logic; if this is good I think people will warm up to it.

I think I might. An RPG is still very much a possibility if this game succeeds in getting more people interested in the franchise.

Well after they messed this up so badly i wouldn't trust them with an RPG.

Should have been a MMO adventure game, something like DCM or NG but with customisable characters.

If it was to do well (which i bet it won't) then they will just make a sequel.

How have they messed it up when all HANDS-ON previews have said it plays well and the Shadowrun abilities add a lot to the gameplay? They want it to become a franchise known to everyone instead of just the nostalgia hungry forums posters, then we may see them expand on the gameplay some more.

They have messed it up because the last thing the 360 needed was another FPS. (granted it's being dev'd with windows games in mind also)

If it becomes big fan's will expect the sequel to keep the same gameplay, changing it will alienate fans of the game.

Doesn't matter if it plays well, it doesn't represent the Shadowrun games that i used to play back on the genesis and snes.

Shouldn't even be called Shadowrun if you ask me.

I personally think the Shadowrun line up will offer a great variation in characters.

Slow, fast, stealthy etc, should make for a very good MP FPS.

But neither did PSO represent the Phantasy Star series, yet it put the universe established in those games in a new context and it worked. I don't see the difference here.

I think that's the point. I'm sure there are a ton of hardcore Shadowrun fans out there but perhaps not enough to make a full blown next-gen Shadowrun RPG off the bat. I had never heard of it up till now.

However, make a game based on the universe, draw some people into the fiction and suddenly it becomes a bit more viable. From the interview it would certainly seem that Microsoft / FASA are not blind to this in the future.

As for "just another FPS" , it sounds to me like they're genuinely trying to do something different with this, as well as tying in the Live anywhere stuff. I for one and looking forward to trying it out and it sounds to me like they're making a good fist of tying in the fiction with the gameplay.

They do need to get it out soon though so it gets a decent run. Halo 3 will just flatten any other decent multiplayer FPS' once it's out. Is there a latest ETA on this?

Well i'm not guna turn this in to another diversity thread.

But consoles need both to survive, whether i like FPS isn't the issue, but i don't think the 360 needs another FPS, it is way too unbalanced and over crowed in that genre already.

Obviously an FPS lover wouldn't agree with me there.

So if ever game on the 360 were FPS, you don't think that would be a problem, as long as they were all good ?
