I know I've read it I'm so sad:( Really hoped it would come out in 2007! Was 1 of my most wanted games for next year. Let's pray for a 2007 christmas release if they hurry up

Atleats they are honest.

FF12 was supposed to come to EU in 2004 fall,and doesnt even have a date and its freaking 2006 november,and some here still think they gonna get FF13 for ps3 in 2007 or 2008.
Same with Mgs4.
It wont come for us in EU before 2008,or even for the other terroritiry also,Konami recently forgot or did with puracpe not ad in MGS4 a game coming in 2007.

Max Payne took absolute ages, and then it effortlessly revolutionized the third person shooter genre. Give them time and expect a great game's what I say! :)

Well, there was some rigidness to the Max Payne models compared to other games when that came out, but it still kicked absolute ass visually. This doesn't seem delayed nearly that much so I wouldn't worry.

Next gen games need more time. I'm happy to hear of any delay:) BIA3 is one of my most anticipated and is taking twice as long as all the other WW2 FPS's, and it will be clear why when it is released. Halo 3 needs till 2008 IMO aswell.

Pushed back a whole year, wow. I wonder what the issues are. They were pushing this title heavily at X06 and the Intel Expo a couple of months ago, I was expecting Q1 2007. How have they got it so wrong?

Shame as it was offering something different. They're going to need to start getting some more variety on the platform this year, hope they've got things to pull out of the bag at CES.

I think it is multifold.

1. MS took them on as exclusive. This raises the stakes a lot and requires more polish.

2. MS is loaded in 2007. Halo, Forza, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Odessey, Blue Dragon (West) not to mention 3rd party titles like Assassin's Creed, GTA, Brother in Arms 3, and so forth. You want good exposure and sales for exclusives and 2007 may be hard to fit a title into.

3. MS is starting to figure out 2008. Banjo 3, Halo Wars (my guess), Fable 2... now Alan Wake. With a year of extra polish Alan Wake could move up in the polish and be somewhat akin to a GoW type title with a huge push from MS.

That is my take on it.

Well yea but remember that it will have to now compete with Resident Evil 5 and Silent Hill 5 (if that comes to 360).

Plus Alone in the Dark 5 should be out by then, I'm all for extra development time, but it could end up harming the game in the long run.

Remedy is quite small and ambitious company so I am not too surprised. If I remember right development team is only ~30 persons.

I also read from Finnish gaming magazine Pelit that they have 4 design goals set to game. One of them was that Alan Wake has to get 90+ scores from reviews and they said quality is most important thing.

We'll then be able to better see the success of Blue Dragon and maybe Square Enix and some other developer will jump in :D Microsoft must surely realize what they got on their hands now (if they pay attention to the forums) they need to make more additions to their japanese lineup.


I still haven't forgotten about Okamoto's secret game which he's saying looks incredible.

30 people in a development team is a decent size. I'm sure they will outsource some of there code which is starting to become a big thing.

We saw footage of Prey in 1997--but I kid--I don't want to see Alan Wake become another Duke Nukem Forever. That's not even funny.

Still, just because they have a large amount of the engine work doesn't mean that they've got the actual game ready. Some developers work in different ways--sometimes the technology comes first and the art and game design catches up with it as they go along.

The demos that we've seen are all pieces of the same area, there's probably not MUCH to show at this point, outside of what we've seen.

I still have lots of faith in Remedy, they're good peoples.
