The Half-Life 2 Orange box pre-order is up on Steam.. If you pre-order it you'll get a discount and (for the fans probably more important) access to the "beta"test of TF2 that starts on September 17th..

Half-Life 2 Orange box includes Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, TeamFortress 2, and Portal..

I already preordered and had to pay 58 dollar incl tax, which is +/- 40 euro.. That is very good value for this package imho.. And since you can give away HL2 and EP1 if you already have them, I'll do that..

Ohw, and if you pre-order you'll also get access to Peggle Extreme Valve edition, which is a pretty fun arcade game I might add..

That seems pretty damn ridiculous to me.. then again, $44 for all that is a steal. It's only $14 more than they're charging for TF2, also ridiculous!

Yup, just EP2 and TF2 alone are well worth the 40 euro imho.. And about the gifts thing, I think it's a smart way to get your games in the hands of more people.. Because obviously the people you are gonna give those games to are not the usual Valve games playing people, all those people probably already own HL2 and/or EP1 aswell, and probably are gonna buy the Orange box themselfs..

But I also don't really know who to give HL2 and EP1 to yet, because everybody I know who's interested in them already have them.. I know 1 person that has HL2 but doesn't have EP1 yet, but he's gonna buy the Orange box aswell, so no use giving EP1 to him.. Maybe I'll put them up for sale, 10 bucks for each or something..

Likewise.. not sure who to give my games to either. Not sure I'm going to pre-order either. Gaming budget is a little tight, and I already told myself I'd pre-order Halo 3 this week.. but it makes me sad knowing I'd be missing out on TF2. :(

Well, then you're in for some (long) experience.. 1st Half-Life 2 itself, then Episode 1, and then Episode 2.. And after you're done with that you still have Portal, and TF2 as online multiplayer.. :)

they say all this crap about "oh you get TF2 Beta on the 17th!" But i've looked everywhere and not seen one damn thing about when the actual package is released. So screw that.

I'm not exactly sure what the big deal is.. I'm pretty sure you'll get everything that's out now, now, plus TF2 in two days.. which is the majority of the package and plenty of content to keep you busy until you wait for Episode 2.

I guess I'll preorder. I wasn't planning on spending this much on games this month, but what can ya do.. it's too hard to resist and I needs me some Halo too.

TF2 "BETA", which means limited maps, limited classes and buggy gameplay, no thanks.

Sorry but buying a game with the release date as TBA is really really silly imo. I mean they actually take your money witout it even giving any sort of goods.

But you are getting goods.. you're getting more than half the package (they couldn't possibly make you wait on Half Life 2 and Episode 1, right?) and it's only $44. TF2 is probably pretty finely polished at this point too.. and just because it's a beta doesn't mean we won't be receiving all the classes, etc. Shit I know people who pre-ordered the Halo 3 Legendary-Price-Edition a year before it was released, and you really didn't get anything.

So we get a discounted price, and we get to play TF2 early (even though it's not done, that's still cool).. sounds to me like we get something out of it. Plus, it's supposed to come out as early as next month.. it's not like we'll be waiting til deep into 2008 for the rest of the package.

Edit: Perhaps you do have to wait until the package ships to get HL2 and Episode 1 as well.. I still think it's worth pre-ordering for the beta bonus, but that's just me. I haven't placed my order yet.. but I'm having trouble convincing myself not to do it.

I was gonna get the Orange box from Steam anyway, so when they announced this TF2 "beta" I pre-ordered without hesitation.. I'm also pretty sure the beta will have everything that will be in the releaseversion aswell.. This means it will have 6 maps and all the classes etc.. Knowing Valve they will keep updating the game constantly with new content, they said they were working on more maps for TF2 already.. And it's just a matter of time before the community makes a lot more maps themselfs offcourse.. That's on PC.. I fear Xbox 360 players will be nickle&dimed again with premium DLC..

After playing for 3 hours all I have to say is TF2 is nothing but pure epic win. It oozes with style and its fun as hell. I'm really glad they ended up taking out grenades(besides the demo's main weapon) as it would be way to much of a spam fest had they kept them.
