MGS4 delayed for further improvements!!

Oh well i should be able to pick up a ps3 for £50 by the time this game comes out!

Just when you thought PS3 was on the verge of getting hold of that triple A title it needs so much, that very same triple A title it needs so much gets delayed.

Back in September at the Tokyo Game Show Konami said the game would hit 'this winter'. That's now been changed to "second quarter of 2008" at the earliest.

The official statement from Konami Japan reads:

Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots Release Update October 31, 2007
Konami announced today that Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots, the latest in the Metal Gear series, is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2008.

Advertisement:
Konami had initially intended to release Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots this winter and has been working on the production of the title.

Konami has decided to delay the title's release in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.

anyone thinking more and more everyday that sony has really messed up what shud have been the greatest console ever...i mean i remember the day the ps1 and ps2 came out...i was so excited both times...how did they loose track of whats important

i know this may seem irrelevant within this topic but what ^^^^ has said about the user base not being big enough is the real reason and thats sad...i dont care that much but I like everyone else expected to be blown out of y socks by the ps3 and frankly after buying it im very let down

no seriously, I dont see this delay as a big deal at all. they never said it was coming Q1 2008 if I remember correctly so technically it's not even a delay and besides, the true fans (and there's lots of them) will wait no matter what.

this kinda sucks...but if they need more time to make the game better, then so be it. the game already looks to be one of the better games in the series so i'd rather have it perfectly polished then a bit rough round the edges.

Of course not a simultaneous release Grift, but I'm calling it 100% MGS4 is coming to the Xbox 360 :)

I believe this delay is to ensure there isn't as much of a gap between the ps3 version and 360 version. There is nothing on display in MGS4 that can't be achieved on the 360. I still expect the PS3 version to have a period of exclusivity though. I'm still getting the ps3 version of the game though, but I think the writing is pretty much on the wall for a 360 port.

Rustykaks: When the PS2 came out it was pretty much the same as it now with the PS3, there was only Tekken Tag and few other crappy games, both MGS2 and FF10 came much later.

The only thing Sony screwed up with was putting the Blu-Ray drive im the system and making it out of most people's price range. (but thats been sorted)

Lowered sound quality that of which the normal gamer wont be able to tell the difference especially since most don't have those expensive sound setups and some signs of loading single disc problem solved.
