From the reviews that I've read, Kane and Lynch has a great story but it's starting to look like another Black in terms of gameplay.

i usually like gamespot reviews, they did streamroll assasins creed.. but from what i read, that game fucked up... so i guess so did this game.

I still remember that impressive tech demo where they showed the guys going down that building, rappelling. That was the only time the game impressed sadly, and it was obviously impressive on a technical scale, nothing else.

I think what really hurts this game and makes it so disappointing is that the story has all the potential for a worthy next-gen game but this approach is to a great extent destroyed by last-gen technology and game design. Such mix was still excusable with the first and second wave of next-gen titles, but this is a third generation title.

Gamespot liked Assassin's Creed, they gave it a 9.0

lol, yeah, whats that guy smoking...hahaha.

im still gonna get it...or at least rent it. i still love the premis and characters. gamespot (who im finding more and more worthless for reviews after ratchet and clanks 7.5) complained the characters where completely unlikable. but from what i gathered from all the footage, and dev dairys, that was the developers intention. not all games have to have super hero, one man army, peace and love, save the world american hero's. these are guys with flaws and messed up lives...and it was the developers intention, so i dont see how a game can be marked down for that.

but whatever, game still appeals to me. which is more then can be said for the technically excelent crysis which is also released this week.

Uh, so are all the main characters and pretty much all characters from GTA games :|

And they seem to be very likable according to gamespot.

but they're far from realistic games are they, GTA has a cartoonish charm....this game is going for plain and simple murdering bastards, they're not suposed to be likable. dev dairys have stated this a million times.

When they say "likable" it does not mean likable as in you like him because he's a murderer. Take Metal Gear Solid. MGS does not aim for cartoonish or comedy in the storyline, they take it very serious, it is a serious game in that regard.

Good. Now why is the Ninja so likable and memorable? After all, he's just a murdering bastard. And if you want "real" human beings, how about Hitman?

This is what GAMESPOT (or whoever said it) referred to by "likable", how the character is. We like murdering bastards in movies too, I do anyways. I'm assuming what those dev diaries are talking about is how likable the characters are within the game world. Obviously, in that regard, they are not supposed to be likable, in real life no one ("normal" people at least) really likes a murdering bastard, they are not supposed to be liked.

thats says your agreeing with me, and thats what im getting at, these guys arnt softended up by art design or backstory like they are in hitman (he only actually kills bad people, he's an anti hero, but a hero non the less) GTA, they hide it with the artstyle and comedy, and as for metal gear solid...i dont really think anyone has any real genuine connection, compassion, or anything where ninja is concerned. i mean, there is nothing 'real' about him

kane and lynch however look like regular guys (balding, average looking males) they talk like regular guys, and yet they are murderers, they are not suposed to be liked. in the real world or the virtual, your not suposed to empathise or sympathize with these characters. but that was the developers goal from the outset. they did their job well imo. not something to knock a point off an overall score for.
