however. i played the trial version when the game was released and its a steaming pile of shit. so im going to treat myself to the hard drive space i'll be saving by not downloading it :D

why cant they just give us 'the next arcade game you download will be free' so then we can pick a game we will enjoy, which would please everyone. but im sure theres a tight fisted corperate reason why they chose not to

I don't get the negativity, Undertow kicks ass. It is easily one of the best XBLA titles released - ever, and the 16-player mode is better than some premium titles. My only regret is that had I known I could have gotten it for free, I'd have waited. As it stands, I'll have to make the call to customer service to get the credit back on the game next week. But even when it was not free, I've enjoyed the hell out of Undertow since it's been out.

Microsoft has given away one of the best XBLA titles out there, and all people want to do is complain.

All a matter of opinion, you seem to be the only person in this thread that thinks its one of the best XBLA titles out there...... uhh ok, anyway, like everyone else was saying, they should have given us 800 points to do with as we wish, but obviously this is some sort of publicity scheme for the makers of Undertow.

I went and did a little digging. Low and behold, myself and the thousands of other people who play this game online often aren't the only ones who like the game. The critics agree with us too. Undertow rocks, and is easily one of the best XBLA titles ever released. And as free gifts from Microsoft go, they could have just given out Joust or Robotron or Rootbeer Tapper (again) and called it a day. But instead, they hand out one of the best games on the service. Definitely not a free gift to underestimate by any means.

I'm gonna have to agree with Free on this one.

Like most people here, I played the demo and did not really like the game all that much. So I didn't buy it. Over the holidays I was visiting some relatives in Vermont and my cousin had it and was absolutely jazzed with the game. One thing led to another and he eventuallly convinced me to give the full version of the game a try. The demo, which takes place on the first level of the first chapter is actually pretty lame. Once you get past the first couple of levels, the game revs up nicely and was real fun to play. Got in some online play while I was testing it out on my cousin's system, and was sold from that point on. I bought Undertow as soon as I got home from vacation and have not looked back.

Undertow really is one of the best games on Live Arcade, or any other virtual console for that matter. The demo portion of the game does not do it any favors however, and no doubt caused many a gamer to pass on it, missing out on one of the best games on the Xbox 360. For those of you who have not paid out of pocket to get it, count yourselves lucky, as the game rocks and is a worthy giveaway that I am honestly surprised M$ chose to give this particular title away for free. Like the guy said above, they didn't have to give anything away at all, so to luck into getting one of the best games on Live Arcade for free, is a steal.

as a Brit im always brutally honest. its not negativity, its just me giving my opinion. if you like undertow then thats great! but personally its not for me.

but tell you what, i did only play the demo.so, since its gonna be free, and for that reason only, i'll download it, you and unfettered seem to be praising it alot, so i'll give it a chance. i wouldnt want to miss out on anything, although im 99% sure i wont change my mind about it if i didnt like it the first time

Probably not, I played and its actually quite good! Not as good as Omega Five tho, thats awesome!

One. Microsoft most probably paid them a huge cash amount, im not sure how it works if Microsoft buys the game then they take all the sales or if the company pays Microsoft and they take the sales.

Either way, the Games company didn't loose anymore and to have one of their games to be freely given away gives them a huge amount of publicity for their studio.

Now if Omega 5 only had 16-player vs. multiplay or online co-op . . .

as for the game itself, i like it, single player is crap since the AI is retarded, and the story and voice acting is just laughable, online is pretty fun tho, its like cod4 domination only 2D. cant image the game dragging me away from cod 4 tho, but it's a good game to jump into now and again...and its free which is awesome.

First of all id like to say a big "Fuck you" to microsoft for me having a shitty 4 weeks of XBL during and after xmas and then banning me for a week during the time the free XBLA game is out.

5 weeks missed of live and absolutely no communication with customer services.

So once again id like to say a big FUCK YOU Micorosft you've made the decision a lot easier on which console i now support.

Im done with the XBL, and the 360.
