Metal Gear Solid 4 Release Date Announced

Word from Destination PlayStation, a retailers-only conference for all things PlayStation related, is that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the PlayStation 3 on June 12, 2008. According to sources there now, the release of Kojima Productions action-stealth game will arrive on a Thursday, oddly enough. Even more interesting is that we're hearing word that Sony will be offering a hardware bundle that features MGS4, an 80GB PlayStation 3 and a DualShock 3 packed-in.
Didn't expect them to bundle it in, but it would be a smart choice if they want to attract more buyers.

I did not expect this to come out in 3 months...no no no!

It is too early for me, I must gather money for Ninja gaiden 2 and MGS4.

Let's hope Killzone 2 comes out end of 2008 or early 2009, atleast as a FPS game, Haze comes out in May (Ubisoft just announced it) and Resistance 2 "soon".

But finally a release date, sweet!

If SONY does that bundle, they could be up to something for a couple of months. As for MGS4, the more I see and know of it, the more ridiculous it gets in all meanings. From graphics to gameplay to animations and sound, all the way to the online ripoff.

he means MGO...which is pretty much MGS4 online. it comes with it too...well, a handfull of maps come with it. or so i've heard.

Kind of yeah.

They have Snake as a character in MGO (not sure if playable), but the rest is just by its own. They only use animations, guns from MGS4, the rest is a stand alone game.

I know that MGO will come with MGS4,but it will be limited, so if you like it, you buy the whole game.

I hope they can do what they did with Warhawk, sell it both as a Blu-Ray copy and a PSN, and sell it cheap because its only a online game anyways.

MGO pile of crap dose interest me in the slightest, but MGS4 is in my top 5 titles wanted this year and the only one i want for the ps3. (unless KZ2 dose release this year, yes i know its meant to, but i just dont see it.

Can't say I'm interested in MGO either. Looks like GRAW's MP lite to me. I like my MP games fast paced. I probably won't be getting it soon if it's out in June. No way I'm hauling that black tank back to college with me. I'll check out MGS4 in Fall or Winter most likely.

Indeed! Summer is usually so boring! Me personally is when i got more time to play, and they release almost no games there! Saving all for Winter :(

I really hope i like it. I loved MGS2, hated MGS3, dont know why :/
And Metal gear online looks ok... Too much like GRAW as Phaethon360 said.

They have Master Chief as a character in Halo 3 Online, but the rest is just by its own. They only use animations, guns from Halo 3, the rest is a stand alone game!

Well--it could have been if MS was daft enough to try to market it that way at least ;)

All the screenshots I have seen in MGO is regular soldiers with different looks, non of them look like what we have seen in MGS4.

Some screens shows Snake is there, but I don't think he is playable, maybe as a "call out support" to take out the other team by stealth.

Even Patton said they want MGO to be a stand alone game. Why would they create new animations, engines...etc. when they can use everything MGS4 has in terms of visual, animation, weapons...etc. (not characters) and then make it a full game that is only for online.
