There is a SE day in August were they will be showing off there PSP and PS3 titles and they mentioned that info on verses would be coming, its just a guess but i suspect it will arrive before FFXIII?

Guess we will see, a 2009 release would be perfect for me.

On August 2nd and August 3rd, Square Enix is holding a "private party" with the utterly ridiculous name DKΣ3713 that will be limited to only 2,400 attendees, picked by raffle through the Japanese Square Enix Members website.. It will showcase Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games. And just like we thought, Final Fantasy XIII will not be playable. According to the Famitsu scans, Square Enix thinks it will be able to announce the latest news regarding FF Versus XIII this summer. Smart money says they do it at that "private party" this August.

definately old images. but versus comes out after XIII. so its not exactly something to hold us over untill XIII. it is a spin off tho. a darker, more action oriented one apparently. less about the turn based monotony, more about the hack and slash.

cant wait for birth by sleep. should be awesome.

I wouldn't really call it a spin-off, per say. XIII, Versus XIII, and Agito XIII are all apart of the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe. They won't hold any ties to one another, outside they take place in the same universe. Well at least that's what they stated. SE is known to change shit up though, ala FFVII completion. So who knows. As for XIII being turn-base, they've never stated that either--to my knowledge. At least not the typical TB people are thinking of. They've always described it as new ATB system, in real time. They want the battles to play out like a cutscene(advent children), but also trying to keep the traditional command-system approach.

Nomura, the game's director, said that the majority of the team working on Versus XIII is now helping out on Final Fantasy XIII. The main title in the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation is top priority at the moment.

So yeah, looks they're trying to get this out for 2009. I seem to recall them stating earlier this year that they're hoping for a worldwide release(US/JPN knowing SE).

Yeah, one of the main reasons why the game is my most wanted(outside of Lighting :P). If they can nail that(what we saw in the trailer), or at least come close to it, then I'm there.

Cool i hope it comes out next year, god knows the ps3 needs an excellent rpg exclusive. And to play FFXIII and SO4 in 2009 with a possible Bond rpg/Aliens rpg/Mass Effect 2 (thats right i said it) also being released next year, i would be in RPG heaven.

Well after GOW2 fast turnaround, and that fact that i recall in an interview were a spokesperson from Bioware said 'you would be surprised how far we are along' in regards to ME2 i can hope and pray it comes out next yr :).

Yeah the 360 has around another 6 rpgs coming out this year!

The PS3 already has Valkyria Chronicles, which is a good game from what I've read/seen. Then of course they have WKS coming out whenever the hell Level 5 decides to grace us with it(lazy asses). Level 5 has yet to dissapoint, eh well Rogue Galaxy wasn't up to par in comparison to the Dark Cloud series. Jeanne D'arc on the other hand was the awesome. Still, their list is indeed barren in comparison to the 360s. That's for sure. Glad I own both :)

Final Fantasy XIII's battle system is shaping up to be radically different from those of Final Fantasy's past. The main points of difference are: the battle system is designed to be as flashy, smooth, animated and fast passed as Advent Children's battle scenes, there is no MP in battles but an ATB Cost Gauge, and cost figures beside each command, magic and non magic alike, there are no random battles, but battles aren't as seamless as Final Fantasy XII's system, weapons can transform during battle if the player choses, different attacks can be sequenced together in a large variety of combinations, players have to be mindful of their position on the battle field, including vertically, and the final not worth addition is the inclusion of an OverClock mode.

OverClock mode is reminiscent of the drive gauge from Kingdom Hearts or the Limit Bar from Final Fantasy VII. Once the gauge is filled (it is unclear what drives it to fill), players can enable the OverClock mode, which slows down all of the surrounding enemies, as well as unlocking special character specific abilities and increased attack and magic power.

Lightning, specifically, has small metal plates on her finger tips which allow her to manipulate gravity. Doing so enables her to preform some extraordinary acrobatics while enveloping her body with a blue-ish aura.

You will be able to fight with a party in Final Fantasy XIII, and control the other characters, however many are allowed in a party is currently unclear. More control is said to be had in the new battle system despite it's increased speed. Also the system is still time based, time still flows as you input commands, and you will have to wait for your turn during battle based on the ATB (Active Time Battle) Gauge.

None of this is set in stone though, until we see the game in action.

So the overclock guage is basically bullet time really no matter how they try to make it sound different really.

Also, it seems like it's very similar to Final Fantasy X2's combat system which I hated ... hmmmmmm ..... They really need to show us a gameplay video .... Im getting tired of waiting

Hmm just watched a couple of gameplay videos for VC and its not my type of game, looks nice though the cartoon art style is cool.

As for WKS i liked the target render video up untill he transformed into a big knight, that bit for me killed it, i liked the realtime sword combat and magic attacks they showed before he transformed, but the ending left me wondering how there going to implement the whole him transforming everytime theres a boss?, what dose the rest of the squad then do? dose that mean all the bosses are going to giants so you have areason to transform all the time?, i'm still keeping my eye on it, guess we will see more at TGS.
