Portal 2 (...is out)

The past week's bizarre pair of updates to Portal seemed to point towards an impending announcement of a sequel, and, well, they did. Game Informer has revealed that its April 2010 cover story is none other than ... Portal 2 -- which Valve has given a release window of "this holiday season." The magazine's site teases the 12-page feature, calling the game "a full-fledged, standalone sequel" with "new gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists."

We'd venture a guess that one of those twists has to do with wherever the portal featured in the cover art leads to -- a misty, jungle setting where some sort of seemingly derelict facility stands, overrun with vines. The flip-side of the cover is (cleverly) a view back through this portal into a familiar Aperture Science setting. Finally, the single cover line mentions "the people who are still alive," a potential hint at a reason for venturing into the new setting in the first place.

The issue should be hitting subscribers' mailboxes soon. Check out the full covers after the break.

I'm not sure how many people followed the ARG last week, but it was epic! Portal is still one of my favorite new games, despite its length and simplicity, it's just so undeniably charming and good that it deserves every bit of praise it's received. I can't wait to see more, but at the same time I don't want to have it spoiled. Hopefully more Valve news featuring Episode 3 is incoming. I can't wait!

I think Portal was a good experience, though i kind of have to say that i also think it's maybe a wee bit overhyped :P

I haven't played something so average in a long time. It was sort of worth playing through once, but after the (3 hrs?), it's pretty much done. Zero replay value. I could give a huge list of reasons, but I sense the fans will not agree. I think it'll be interesting how far they can take this gimmick. To have a game built around just that is a bit too much.

while i loved the first one to bits, i was never really left craving more. i never bought that expansion pack thing that was released and chances are, i probably wont buy this either.

Portal was certainly one of the best gaming experiences so far this gen. Very clever and a wonderful and charming presentation. I'm really looking forward to seeing what new ideas they come up with for the 2nd one. Should be a great game I'm sure.

GTB Bon, faut dire que je viens de comprendre que j'ai pas besoin de retrouvé la clé du boss à chaque fois ^^'. Je pourrais faire des tentatives plus rapprochées en fait. (il y a 7 Heures)
GTB le jeu est assez foutu pour apporter du neuf (lore, ennemis, salles) qd tu recommences encore et encore. Là j'en suis juste à un moment où il y a pas vraiment de neuf dc ça fait plus répétitif/frustra (il y a 7 Heures)
GTB Globalement, je galère pas vraiment. Mais il suffit d'une salle, chargé en ennemis dangereux et une typo de la salle à la con => + de risque de mourir et...retour case départ. (il y a 7 Heures)
GTB et vraiment très punitif. Tu te fais toucher => ton adréna retombe à zéro et tu perds tes bonus. (il y a 7 Heures)
