Project Dust will grant players the power to dynamically alter a simulated world to "help their people resist, expand and migrate so they can accomplish their quest to find a safe place," says Chahi.

"Players will be able to manipulate ground, water, vegetation, lava as if playing sandcastles on the beach," he explains. "Breaching a lake open, digging craters, flooding valleys... And all this is simulation, not just graphics visualization."

Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, Project Dust is currently scheduled for a downloadable release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Spring 2011.

Populous was such an amazing game. One of the very best from my childhood. Peter Molyneux was kicking ass when we were all babies.

Yeah I remember Populous allthough I always found Populous; The beginning a better game! I loved that game to death and loved the different environmental spells like earthquake and vulcano, that was amazing at that time!

So as this game isn't your style, I guess the best way to avoid the "boredom" is to not play it. Some people find these kinds of game intriguing, not boring...

surely you could have figured that out based on what i've said thus far. i wont be touching this with a 10 foot pole. lol. it can get all the glowing reviews it likes. but much like starcraft 2, it lives in a genre that bores me to tears.

i was hoping for something along the lines of another world. and instead we get this. major dissapointment for me.

Sucky for you, it's awesome for me. Since this not interest you you could also avoid the topic, so it doesn't bore you!

This looks terrific, can't wait until we see actual gameplay, and interacting with the villagers!

Gamescom: From Dust is an Incredible Sandbox:
Using an incredibly simple point and click interface, the player can grab a handful of whatever from one location in the world and transport it to another place. That means you can scoop up a fistful of dirt and drop the entire mound of earth right into the middle of the ocean to create an island, or plop it down on a plain and raise a mountain. Just as you can transport dirt, you can do the same for water: grab a sphere of water from the sea and drop it down into a basin to create a lake.

I did get a chance to see one mission in action: a tsunami is headed towards one of your villages, and you have to protect a tribe member as he runs across the land to acquire the power of water by touching an idol up in the mountains. You'll have to make sure he has safe passage by raising land to create land bridges across rivers, and make sure he doesn't fall off high cliffs and plunge to his death. After delivering this newfound power to his villagers, the tsunami arrives in all its destructive force…but the villagers stand strong at the coastline and hold back the water. The wave is diverted around the the village, really showing off the fluid dynamics of From Dust's physics engine.
