Lui ... (il y a 1 Semaine)

Inscrit depuis 7356 JoursThis is a wide-ranging interview and we cover a lot of ground. With me to help cover that ground with Gordon (aka "Lex Luthor") is BASH regular, Garetjax from codtv.tv.
Among the interesting personal facts that Gordon drops our way is that he was a former competitive player (hence the "Lex Luthor" tags), but get this...he was also a PC modder. And his mods are the reason he got to work at DICE. I'm sure his street cred with our community just shot straight up, huh?
Of course we asked about BFBC2 as well.
* We go into depth on the Frostbite gaming engine.
* We talk about the possibilities of modding the game.
* We talk about the potential for competitive BFBC2 play.
* We of course talk about the fact that BFBC2 will have dedicated servers.
* The PC beta is also discussed.
Thanks to all the folks who helped make this cast happen: Gordon at DICE, Matt Pruitt, Jino T. and Kelly E. at EA. Thanks guys.

I see they're still using the simplified armor model from 2142 (and I assume the console games) where the back is the only real weak point. That's a bummer. I love how deep BF2 tank battles could get.
Inscrit depuis 5837 JoursAnyone feel free to add me for the beta: turn-
I'd love to run games with intelligent people who can play strategically.
After switching from the 360 to PS3 a while ago I've noticed there doesn't seem to be a large amount of players on the PSN with a decent amount of common sense, which is disappointing and could potentially ruin someone's experience in a game like this where winning depends on teamwork. I'm crossing my fingers people playing will realize it's not just only running to the middle (or camping in the furthest back part) of the map and trying to rack up their kill-count.
And I'm just hoping this doesn't turn into a M203-fest where people are just running around trying to level buildings as fast as they can.
In other words, I'm praying this game will be played the way DICE is intending it to be. I guess if console kids ruin it I'll just get it for PC where I know most players are competent enough to let me enjoy my time.

manually spotting
getting points for spotting
choosing in which squad mate to spawn
destruction (just keeps getting better. just curious to see how far they go. how being able to destroy everything changes the gameplay.)
shooting: it takes much less rounds to take down enemy!! (can count the number of times in BC1 i'm shooting someone in the face with a smg while he calmly walks torward me and takes me down with a knife!...
orders. ability to give basic commands to squad mates (can we do this generaly or just to gold crates?)
didn't like:
kill call! (i mean, this in CoD took the fun and purpose of snipping. some might call it camping, but it's all part of a combat, getting a good spot and taking down the opposing team. although here he says the maps are two big the position won't be given away, anyone playing this after a few months will know immedietly were the enemy is. lame)
animations (revive animation is lame, same as in bf2...zap friend with defribillator, and they "emerge" from the air. couldn't there be a standing up animation?!)
Inscrit depuis 7356 JoursThe kill cam is a little lame, but at least they're trying to give away as little information as possible.
Inscrit depuis 6787 JoursYou know what they could take for CoD? the control mapping. Pressing Y (and thus letting go of the look analog stick) to draw the knife it's just stupid.
they should instead bring back chain of command...
Inscrit depuis 5837 JoursThe Battlefield games are one of the few games where I feel okay about sitting somewhere and just picking people off. When the sniper is just a semi automatic AR with a scope ala Call of Duty, I just feel like a camper if I stay in one spot too long.

Inscrit depuis 7356 JoursI sorta like it both ways. Having to equip your knife/nade adds a different dynamic to the game.. it works especially well in more "realistic" shooters.. but I don't mind the arcadey pacing of hotkeys.

If you don't end up getting one by the time the beta's out, I'll give you one. I'd PM you now, but I'm trying to reserve it for a friend.
Eh, nevermind. I'll just PM you a code now.
