Batman: Arkham Asylum: Thread

On what I believe is the final boss fight with Joker and it's definitely safe to say that, overall, this is easily the most polished next gen game I've played.

What must have been the budget on this thing? The art, the graphics engine, the combat and simulation style batman gameplay, the well thought out missions, the fairly solid puzzle elements, the voice acting, the animations (both in and outside of cutscenes)

Damn, I would have never thought I'd get this much out of a Batman game lol.

I held off on whooping Joker because I want my cousin to see how it all ends :)

Well, in all honesty, I'd be surprised if anything beat this to being my personal GOTY - even Modern Warfare 2.

Just finished it, so good, so good... Played Gears of War 2 after and it wasnt as near as entertaining as THE Batman (but pretty good as well)!

Well I just went through this game, and it was pretty damn awesome. The levels were really well done. The backtracking was really well done for the most part. The graphics were pretty awesome, some weakpoints here and there, but great. The gameplay though is just great, the combat, the story, the characters.....wow. Great way to bring back Batman, I can't wait for the sequel (two-face!).

Just got my platinum trophy :) What a game! I didn't care for the challenge rooms much at all, more of an annoyance than fun trying to get those trophies.

Will come back for more after Uncharted 2.

You mean MW2 (COD5), But i understand what your saying, for me so far its my GOTY '09 but i have a feeling that Dragon Age will run it very close for me, and maybe MW2.

MW2 will probably take the cake because of its addictive online mode but, based purely on singleplayer, I think Batman: AA will be my personal GOTY.

Well you know theres people like me that doesnt care at all for that kind of multiplayer games so Batman for me will be better than MW2.

Now don't get me wrong Im sure it will be amazing I owned COD4 but I got sick of it thats all.

I think Borderlands as more possibilities of beat Arkham if the coop its amazing.

Yeah, I wouldn't want the whole of Gotham because it would destroy much of what the game is all about. Yes, Batman: AA has a sandbox structure to it, but not to the extent of GTA or even Crackdown. I do think the sequel - which there definitely will be - should be set in Gotham itself, but I agree with Ronsauce that it should only be a certain section/block of Gotham.

Or make the missions based in parts of the city but not giving you free roam gameplay like GTA,like have a mission set in a building then another in a museum or something,you will travel but in forms of cutscenes or batmobile kind of gameplay just to get to point a to point b.

I don't know but not free roam kind of game,it would lose the atmosphere the game has.

I mean that they should have it be controlled just like they did with Arkham Asylum. You wouldn't have too massive a place to mess around in. You'd just be able to infiltrate banks, police stations, clubs etc.
