We're exploring a Diablo-related concept for consoles and are currently looking to fill a few senior console-related positions on the Diablo III team. As we've said in the past, with proper care the gameplay could suit the console platform, and we're interested in seeing what talent out there might be interested in such a project. If you're passionate about all things Diablo and have the requisite skill and experience, then head over to our jobs site to check out the positions and apply.

Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don't intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game.
Okay. All is still right with the world. As right as Blizzard+Activision can still be, at least.

I duno why you would be against a console version, its important of course to keep the 2 versions completely seperate as far as UI and controls go.

For the same reason I'm bummed about Battlefield 3 being multiplatform. Multiplatform games usually make huge compromises to design in order to cater to the console audience. Many a franchise has lost its way making the jump from PC to console. The fact that the console version seems to be a complete afterthought is very comforting however. I'm not particularly concerned about this. Hopefully this will play out like other Blizzard console have in the past. There are bigger concerns to have with where Blizzard is today and where they're headed.

Blizzards Norths old version of Diablo 3;

http://kotaku.com/#!5761172/this-is-what-diablo-ii...

As one can see in the early Diablo III screen shots in the gallery above, Blizzard North's vision for the third entry hewed closely to the previous entry in visual tone as the series made the jump from 2D to 3D graphics.

More than a dozen screen shots of an early version of Diablo III shows three environments: Keep, Angelic Lands and Heaven. In Heaven, it appears the player was destined to run into some familiar Archangels, with an appearance by Tyrael.

Yeah, we've sort of heard this before, certainly not as pronounced but they've sure been dropping hints on a console version for a long time. Translation.........."Once we've figured out how the UI for the consoles is going to work, we're going to get those console versions (possible reason for continued delays) out to you ASAP"

Considering that it's just point and click, they might even be able to come up with a clever Kinect concept for Diablo 3. I know that co-op on LIVE would play well.

It's early development that never even made it to the presses. It definitely has potential, even in those shots. It's not like Diablo 3 is on the cutting edge of technology.

Not that I dislike the style of Diablo 3. It's a little cartoony, but it's still dark too.

I just dislike how they went to that Warcraft look. I don't just mean that it needs to be really dark. Artstyle is just completely different. The second screenshot Firewire posted looks like Diablo. It has that Diablo feel. I think Grim Dawn looks more Diablo than Diablo 3.

Grim Dawn

Whatever it still looks fun to play. I am more worried about region locking the b.net again. Now that's just BS!

Oh and if you dudes have StarCraft 2 accounts we should get ready and add each other to friend lists.

That early diablo 3 looks great. Not digging much current D3 artstyle, but it's not that bad as people make it to be. The gameplay is looking great though, it will be an awesome game.

Also eagerly antecipating Grim Dawn. Loved Titan quest so much, that i already got grim dawn preordered, waiting to alpha/beta test it now.

Future look good for arpg fans.

Of course im not, the art was crap and cartoony LOL
I meant the control scheme and UI and such.

I love the dark mature art style of Diablo 3, one of the main reasons why I like it, and loot, dungeons and awesome orchestral music :D

Male Demon Hunter revealed;

DiabloFans: What were the major sources of inspiration for the looks of the male Demon Hunter?

Lichtner: We've actually gotten this question a few times in the past and it's hard to say. Obviously, a lot of stuff just finds its way into the design, in terms of: we're all fans, we play video games, we read comic books, we watch movies and TV shows, and even art books and stuff like that. I think ultimately, these things sort of find themselves into the designs in some way, shape, or another. But for the Demon Hunter, I think the most important thing was that it was a ranged class. As a result, we made the Male Demon Hunter a little bit more wiry, a little bit skinnier, maybe even a little bit more like Trent Reznor or Clint Eastwood type, like a badass who isn't that physical. In the end it goes back to gameplay too. We want to make sure it really reads correctly, like 'Hey, this is what the class is about' and we also want to make sure it reads very much in terms of [the fact that] it's a dual-wielded crossbow class, it's got the gadgets, so it's a little bit of Van Helsing/Kate Beckinsale in Underworld. But, those are really far-reaching starting points. Ultimately, we really strive to make something that maybe has a tone of its' own so that you don't necessarily point to something and say, 'Oh they got it from here or there.'

Diablo 3 Followers System Unveiled;

http://youtu.be/6HOYyC_RoBw
Well, it appears in Diablo III, there will be a bit more customization to these characters. There are three types of Followers; the Enchantress, the Templar, and the Scoundrel. Each comes with their own play style as well skill set for players to choose from. The skill sets will be in tiers just like you character with new skills being unlocked every 5 levels. The player than can choose one skill of that tier to give their Follower. There is also some altered the equipment slots to a weapon, amulet, and two rings. It appears that certain equipment slots and skill choices will unlock as your Follower levels. The character will also show armor value, damage, life and resistances for Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, Holy, and Arcane (The Holy and Arcane resistance appear to be interchangeable).

I liked D2's arwork and theme. It was dark and rather ornate. I think they're sticking to that well from the "official" stuff from the site. It's not nearly as beefy and cartoony as WoW is.

Duno that templar shot could pass as a Paladin tier set in WoW,.

The concept art looks so much better than the actual 3D models which is too bad, but that happens in most games I suppose.

True enough though the game will kick ass regardless of what it looks like, I hope they have a ton of DLC planned.
