Thats what I thought now I'm playing really well with no assists on. I really like it because I've never had to be on my toes THIS much in any racing game I gotta constantly make sure I know right when to let up off the gas completely to regain some control. Gotta know when to accelerate when coming into or out of a turn as I don't want to start skidding.

Gotta be very careful with my shifting as in other games, but in others I've never felt this much sense of urgency to drop a gear to gain some acceleration speed to catch up to the enemies. If it weren't for the jags I wouldn't have any graphical issues whatsoever with the game. Not bad for their first go on the 360 I think we're going to be very impressed with what they achieve on the 360 on their second go around the gameplay is as rock solid as it comes.

This thing is definitely the most fun racer I've played. This demo is the only thing I've played on my 360 all day.

Looking at it the environments aren't even that bad actually I'm impressed with them, but you see where improvements need to be made. They'll likely be able to do things more efficiently next time around leaving room for nice improvements, but this gameplay is rock solid.

You are impressed by the environments? Stop with that exaggerations. The environment is out of date, not even worthy to a lastgen game. The skybox looks horrible. The Game has no HDR, no AA, no AF, terrible textures.
And the framerate is not rock-solid. I've noticed some bucking right after the start from hood view. The sounds also annoyes me. Sure, the sound itself may sound like the original does. But it's so bad mixed up. Sorry, but in the year 2007 i am expecting that the sound is clearly placed within the room and exactly locatable. I am expecting wavetracing and other stuff on the sound.

lol i don't know what your playing and to be honest I'm not really concerned with what your opinion of it is man. I'll have my opinion and you'll have yours. I've noticed no fps issues and I've played this all day. Skybox looks great, but you don't always see the fanciest part of it as you drive. Sound is without a doubt one of this games best aspects.

So yea pretty much I disagree with everything you said it isn't exaggeration I'm playing on an amazing HDTV and aside from jaggies (which are the most annoying thing visually) I'm totally pleased with what I see so if you don't like it don't buy it. It indeed might be a bit too last gen for your tastes. If you're ever looking for a amazing racer and can bring yourself to get past your distaste for the graphics then it wont hurt to give Forza 2 a shot as it excels in that area. If the graphics are a total deal breaker for you then so be it you should be pleased with one of the more graphically impressive 360 racers bound to show up. PGR4 being one of the more notable choices. So again sorry to hear about your opinion on the graphics Forza 3 will come out maybe 2 or 3 years from now maybe the game will be up to your requirements then.

Yeah, the skybox looks great. The cool fish-camera look and that awesome non-existing HDR lighting. It's also cool that everything looks so static and flat (wait... other games has volumetric clouds) / sarcasm off

This is a third generation game from a first party developer. It has to be much much better than a launch game, 60FPS and physics are no excuse.

I like it, it plays well. It plays a lot like Forza 1 which is great. The braking is easier, Forza 1 was a bitch.

Graphically, I don't really care, it looks nice enough for the moment, I don't care about the jaggies, I didn't look for them and didn't see them, but if I did I wouldn't care. I just drive the car :)

I plumped straight for the Zonda race car, no aids and loved it. Putting too much power on coming out the first corner, then thinking fuck it and nailing the throttle, just to 'control' the car powering over all the way up the straight then round the next two corners, with smoke pouring off the wheels, Awesome! :D

The only thing I really don't like are the replays. They're just like Forza 1, in Forza 1, I drifted the last corner of Tsubuka, watched the replay, had a nice close up view of my bonnet, realised they were worthless and didn't bother again. I don't think I'll bother with the replays in Forza 2. That is unless, like GT4 you can save your pictures out in hi-res to USB or something, that rocked! :D

Just like Gotham 3, the Sagaris rocks. The difference in handling between the cars is supurb. I love the 997 Porsche Turbo.

Simply put, replays and not gob smacking graphics aside, I love this game :D

Its actually a first generation title from a first party developer as far as Turn 10 is concerned. PGR4 for Bizarre Creations represents a second generation title. Forza 2 still represents their first Xbox 360 title maybe not every developer is capable of getting as much out of the console on their first try as others are especially when multi-threaded development is involved. Maybe Bizarre is just better who knows, who cares. Turn 10 delivered on gameplay flawlessly, but didn't deliver on the expectations they set for themselves visually and they have nobody to blame, but themselves. Even so its probably time to let it go.

At this point whats done is done we can't change it. People can now play the demo and decide for themselves whether its worth their time or not. You seem pretty down on the game obviously did you atleast get to play the demo to see if you like it? Again man if the graphics are too big a factor for you to come to terms with at this point then its just best to move on. I see this being a game I keep coming back to constantly in between other games.

As it should be fuji :)

i cant believe "some" people are bitching about the GFX, its beautiful in hood cam the cars in front look near damn real, better than PGR3 imo,
and how can people say the tracks look lifeless?? i am bemused when people say that
and i think they got the lighting spot on, the sky is simply awesome and the draw distance, the audio...every part of the game is great

and the wheel, so glad i bought the wheel ...........back to the demo

If you're already anticipating a sequel to a game that's not even out yet.. you know there's reason for concern. Keep in mind that Forza 1 was Turn10's first Xbox game too, and so far as I know.. they didn't make a second one. I guess if a developer comes out with an Xbox 360 title in 2007.. I don't think it's really fair to be calling it a "first generation" title anymore. Talking about Forza 3 at all this point is assuming a lot.

Not that it won't happen though.. we've seen two GT's released a generation for a while now, and this time around Forza was released a lot earlier in the consoles life cycle.. so it does seem pretty safe to assume we'll see another Forza on 360.. but even suggesting that before Forza 2 is out? Why?

I agree.. that's about as ridiculous as suggesting Forza 2 has better car models than PGR3. The environment in the demo looks pretty nice to me too.. I'm more concerned with the look of the city environments (NYC) than any of the actual racing circuits.

Milhouse you are going a little overboard.. there is AA, there is HDR, and the texture quality exceeds a lot of other 360 titles (except for the ones ON THE CAR.. wtf is up with that?). You're exaggerating quite a bit yourself.

The skybox and sound are great too. Some animated clouds would have been nice.. but whatever.

One thing I definitely agree with Carb on: This is a great reason to own a FF wheel. Speaking of the wheel Carb.. did you ever do that mod? If so.. how is that working out for you?

Forza 2 has no HDR, but some HDR-like blooming effects on the car. That's for sure. This was also stated in that german preview. Texture quality on the cars is bad, i can't believe how somebody can state something other. Just look at the R2 cars and all that sponsor-textures. Regaring to AA. I am now convinced that this is almost a problem of current LCD/Plasma HDTVs regarding to response-time. My assumption: 60FPS is just to fast for most of the LCD/Plasma TVs. I've played it on my TFT Monitor and there are much fewer jaggies than on my Plasma HDTV.

Because isn't everything it was promised to be and he hopes FM3 is what FM2 was supposed to be? Turn10 cut a lot of graphical features and they did it either because they overestimated 360's power or they made some serious mistakes during development. Assuming the latter is the case, they certainly won't repeat them next time around and we'll see massive graphics improvements. Of course there's a lot of wishful thinking, but I hope it's true...

When my eyes are concentrating on the road, I think the cars/ environment/ lighting etc. look a little better than I expected. It is a very fun game to play. Makes you really eager for the full game. Good variety of cars for a demo. I wish there had been one additional track but oh well.

Things I don't like. Replays. The cameras suck. I've seen other games with much better. Couldn't this be fixed easily in a patch? I would think so. I kept thinking to myself... wow a lot of other racing games Xbox/PS2/Xbox 360... like Moto GP have much better replay cameras.

I also don't care much for the dust and smoke effects in the game. I've seen better (GRAW2)

I like the demo a lot. It has flaws, but this will be a AAA title for MS. I like the force feedback pretty well. Driving with a wheel will take some getting used to. I'm also finding it hard to get comfortable. I can see why hardcore racers, buy the seat/mount combo.

The AI is a bit more interesting it seems. The AI seems to be less CPU generated and has a bit more natural/actual person driving opponent feel to it. I'll just leave it at that.

I raced about 12 different times last night, and the biggest complaint I have are the replays cameras. I'm good with the rest, and the graphics aren't as bad as the critics say, not top notch, but a bit better than I was expecting after seeing screenshots and gameplay vids. I think it comes down to lighting and the rendering engine they use. Some tracks I've seen still from in this game just don't look up to snuff for a AAA racing title on 360.

Not quite sure how my Forza 3 comment is any cause for concern. I said it in regards to what people here have been saying they think need to improve and what I think should improve from my time playing the demo. I'm saying Forza 2 as it is now is acceptable for me and since milhouse doesn't seem pleased I suggested that maybe Forza 3 will be able to give him what he's looking for in a racer since I don't think Forza 2 will be able to do that for him judging from his comments.

I said maybe they'll be able to do things more efficiently next time on the Xbox 360 so as a result they'll get more out of it. Not sure why that comment is the least bit alarming. lol nice I expected a PGR3 > forza 2 jab to come sooner or later.

Almost Sza I'm still not even looking for them to deliver on all the promises they made for Forza 2 with Forza 3, but what I am expecting next time is 4XAA (absolute must next time), the impressive gameplay intact or improved and some nice visual enhancements while building on the best of forza 2 like the amazing reflections on the cars.

Yea it also sounds to me like milhouse hasn't played the forza 2 demo wouldn't be surprised if he didn't own a 360, but even so he can still express his opinion regardless of how much I disagree.

I played the Forza 2 demo and liked it a little. Totally static sky was a let down. I most enjoyed damage and mayhem when crashing onto cars head on. I thought that graphics looked good. But then I went back to play Just Cause and let me tell you, that game offers a totally different kind of eyecandy that I fancy a lot more. Maybe Dreamcast's F355 Challenge is still my choice for a driving simulator.

Of course I understand that those two games are from two different genres. But colours, lighting, weather for example do qualify as factors of eyecandy and those look better in my opinion in Just Cause. Cars of course look better in Forza 2, but that is only a tiny bit of eyecandy. And since Forza 2 does not look anywhere near as photorealistic, then at least realism can't be the only thing considered as great graphics. Just Cause even has a lot more of 3d grass. :)

As you may have noticed, I do like Just Cause. I even put up a little tribute for that game at Youtube. KPehFO0" target="_blank" >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRKPehFO0
