I'm still blown away that this game looks as good as it does, and runs as smoothly as it does.

I expect to see this kind of leap from Halo 3 to Reach :P

I doubt we will see a leap this big between sequels on the same console ever again to be honest.

Well, if FM2 graphics were not so lackluster we wouldn't need to say that :P

That said I think the best things in FMIII are the accessability changes, new MP options, and the fact the SP looks to have ditched the stupid setup/ Hopefully FM4 will will have more cars on track, weather and day cycles, "ultra" realistic damage models and modes, and can achieve photomode in realtime in terms of IQ.

Many FM2 car models still looks better than SHIFT car models or are at least on the same level (except cockpit view).

More cars, weather and day cycles is a must. At least two of those should be in. I think PM will always look better regardless, so I don't know about that one. And ultra realistic damage models is a like a pipe dream right now I believe. Would love to see it but wouldn't hold my breath until maybe the next next generation.

I don't care how it looks so much as that a big bump really does damage to wheels and such. Right now "simulation" means you can take some hard knocks and still compete. keep sim that way, just add an "ultra realism" mode that tries to mimic realworld damage conditions.

I see what you mean. Yeah, GTR on PC does that. No wing, no win for example. Go too hard on the engine, it blows, etc etc. Body damage is something we've got a long way to go.

Well, it would make the game almost impossible to play were they not to adjust the IA : I guess real drivers try and avoid big contacts as they might lose an aerodynamic part of the spoiler or the wing.
Remember the Mercedes aerodynamic issues at Le Mans a few years ago : the cars would take off when following another competitor due to the loss of some aerodynamics forces...

I guess the effect is less devastating with a R1 or R2 car, but still... The IA would have to avoid contact as well, right now, it doesn't.

The loss of a rear wing is massively overdone, in GTR cars are virtually undrivable which simply isnt the case in real life, the Ferrari FXX is a perfect example. Obviously it depends on the cars specific aero but the way the cars perform without a wing in GTR is far to drastic.

Awesome Stuff, that Ferrari 458 vid is the by far the best trailer yet for the game, the graphics look amazing! I love the weight shift on the car at 1:14!

Nah, I said no wing no win, it's not impossible (or near impossible) to drive. I don't know where you see a race car continue racing when they aero gets damaged. There is simply no point, I'm sure you've seen Le-Mans and Formula 1. I see your point of the FXX but I don't know how that applies.

Well the problem with damage is the duration of the race and the AI. In a short race in a game you can't possibly recover from a tire blow, in a normal race you can. Hell you can blow your engine/transmission in an endurance race and still recover. Have you seen this years Le Mans? They completely wrecked an R15 at well over 150 km/h, it could still drive on 3 wheels, these cars are tough.

The thing is that when you have rl damage you have to get all these things done properly to make it have significance. Otherwise that bit of damage always means you're going to lose.
