I'm glad Blim likes to talk alot. From the two reviews that I've read so far, he seems to be really good at it unlike all of the bias reads from other journalists. This site is on it's way to big things.

despite these seemingly glowing reviews, i still cant bring myself to buy it. i was going to rent batman : AA but the reviews changed my mind on the matter, this however, despite it's obvious improvments, still looks like more of the repetative same.
Nah there is no need to worry, all the issues in the first story stemed from the structure of their storytelling, this regimented stlye therefore gave the gameplay this excessive repetitiveness as no impending driving force means that free roam becomes tiresome quickly and so to does everything else.

Fortunately this game is entirely about a boy becoming a man and then becoming an assassin (unchallenged character development via this method zELDA OoT DID it AND IT WAS FLAWLESS), this focus alone probably will make for what will be the most engaging story told this year :), then you have the economy providing RPG like features, the ability to swim in water access various vehicles, different approaches to fights or progression be that using harlots or mercenaries or stealth or simply knuckle to knuckle fights it's the variety not necessarily in the game structure but in the simple things that become critical because of the length game and the variance such depth entails, night and day cycle is another thing working in it's favour (much like GTA 4 it makes the world more life like which is basically another draw that resists tedium), anyways if there is one title that needed the metamorphises and has recieved, it is AC2.

I loved the 1st but criticism where valid this however has convinced even the most dissapointed gamers of the 1st I'm sure it can thus win you over as well :).

just watched the GT review.. they spent the whole review pretty much with a negative viewpoint of the game..destined to lead to an adverage score.. and then ended up giving it a 9.2 when nothing they said warrented such.

Very strange.. or maybe not

That's Gametrailers for ya. Well, not all the time..but often the scores just don't match the review itself. I almost always find myself agreeing with the reviews themselves. They have an excellent narrator and the reviews are fair and to the point, but the scores sometimes are just, totally not in line with that they're saying.

So I just ignore the score at the end, anything else I take highly when it comes to Gametrailers video reviews...best out there imo.

yeah.. just this time the actual review, and the score following it, were miles apart.

Be interesting to see if assassins creed 2 ads are pasted all over the site in the next few days. There was already the widespread rumous of a high score for the price of an early review.

Whatever the case, he really didnt sound like he was narrating a 9.2 game.

Personally i'm quite interested in the game.. maybe even enough to go back to AC1 and attempt to complete it...maybe

Played the first game about 1/3rd through before i got bored lol. LOVED just running around freely in the cities though, not caring about missions. LOL kind of like in GTA.

Anyway, after watching some youtube assassins creed 1 ending-examined videos, i'm hella confused.. I'll be getting AC2 today so i'd like to be in the know lol.
What is the deal?
Some sort of alien artifacts, that the templars/illuminati is going to send up in a satellite for mind-controlling the earth via illusions of, religion? ^_^

If anyone could shed some ultra-quick 3-sentence light on the gist of the ending / what i need to know when starting the sequel, i'd appreicate it.

Basically, while playing Altair, you find out that Al-Mualim (the master of all Assassins) is trying to get the Eden Orb that would help him to control minds.
In the present Abstergo (a secret society of modern time templars) are looking for objects that could somehow equal the power of Al-Mualim's Eden Orb in order to send it to outer space on satellites and to control minds somehow.

To be honest, while finishing the game, I didn't understand that at all. I thought that you had to kill Al-Mualim because he became a bad guy in the end. No matter what this ending means, it's somehow royally f**cked-up.

I've spent the evening playing this, and so far I like it a lot, but I wish it looked better. The first looked so stunning throughout, but this one is far less impressive. Characters in particular are downright hideous and very badly modelled, but the environments too are low poly and poorly lit.

The game is better than the first though, with more depth and more variety.

Quick tip for people playing the PS3 version - try adjusting the brightnes setting. By default it's very bright which makes the game look very flat. Knocking it down a notch or two imrpoves it a lot.
