Please be a joking because although I agree that Ninja Giaden Black its one of the best action games ever made Tecmo now dont have Itagaki that him and Kamiya are the only ones in my opinion who can make the best action games,Ninja Gaiden 2 something went really wrong in the development of the game IMO because if Itagaki wouldve put the same effort than in Black the game couldve been also one of the best but as it is only the combat engine shined.

Also Bayonetta its now the standard as action games go and I doubt any other game taking the crown from it not for a few years at least this game its just too good a work of love a masterpiece one of the best games ever made up there with OoT,HL,Black and all the greatest.

GO BAYONETTA GO!!!

Please... How old are you? Of course i meant how mixing over the top action with seemingly naked women was Tecmo at it's best. Kamiya did a good job copying them? Sure. You don't have to be a genius to know that action+boobs sell, but still i'll give him a cookie for realizing that.

The standard for action games? Yeah right... Just which game exactly has followed that standard? You can't say that because Bayonetta's style is still pretty new. Maybe DMC set the basis for Bayonetta, but in no means has it set the standard for any other action game. You know, standard means that a certain factor repeats a lot in every example, and being Bayonetta new it can't possibly have set any.

Now NG, i can think of at least 2 other franchises definitely based on it's gameplay.

What is HL? "Halo"?

OoT. Full of flaws, definetely enjoyable. Masterpiece? Hell no... But i think it deserves a 9 out of 10. There is no question the N64 was the xbox360 of yore, with almost all of it's games overhyped and all first party games overrated. Goldeneye was the best by far, that IS a PERFECT game.

I still didnt mind the replacement of the blood, nor any of the visuals, my beef is how nerf the game was in terms of enemies and shitty design choices in gameplay.

I DO love NG but I also hate it, but I like it because I know its a game I will get back to, maybe not soon nor later (trying to find a new IP/franchise to takes it place), but definitely get back to it at some point in the future.

Demos are there for a reason, to get you interested, I played it, didnt think it was interesting, even though I hated how the style was before the demo, I still gave it a shot, I just cant like it and thats just me.

But again, with NG, I might get into NG once again when NG3 is announced and they start showing stuff from it to meet my standard because interms of over the top or "perfomance" it is lacking from DMC and Bayonetta, but if I see it is another NGS2 with girls taking more as a #1 role than Ryu and I see weapons, Ryu as a character...etc. being "tacked on" then I wont bother, but we will see.

So yeah, I havent been thinking of NG at all for a month or so now with so much new games out AND coming out, I am not missing it at all.

When it comes to the same genre, I say bring on Dantes Inferno, Castlevania Lords of Shadow!*

Notice the "please be joking"? Of course i wasn't joking. The master at putting boobs and blades together is Tecmo. Now Kamiya is doing the same, well good for him. Imagine Bungee made a Dynasty Warriors like game and suceeded, and then i said "Koei should have taken that game up", would that seem weird to you guys? Of course not, and they probably would even make a better game out of it, if it ever happens.

I repeat, just so you too understand "and it seems that it's not the case here", YOU CAN'T SET A STANDARD WITH JUST ONE GAME. And i don't mean we need a next Bayonetta for the standard to be set, we just need another game to be LIKE Bayonetta, and that's not happening anytime soon.

Then again, what is HL? I tend to use abbreviations to refer to games a lot, but HL just doesnt ring any bells. Which is weird, because if it's caught Raptor's eye (which seems solely focused on Bayonetta) then it must be good.

Now that perfect games are the topic, you should try out Shenmue 1 Raptor, it's not perfect, but is probably the closer you can get in an adventure-rpg hybrid, and it for some reason came to mind...

Anywho, thanks for the review Blim, good read. I have a question though. So you played the Japanese imported version? If so, the menus and in-game instructions are in English already? Or was there an option to switch between the Japanese and English? Thanks.

I guess we can't know 100% and it's not a universal truth but we also pretty much know what to expect from God of War 3. I mean, if you think that God of War 3 will revamp the whole series and just feel totally fresh i think you are quite mistaken. Basically, juding from previous iterations of God of War, that statement could probably be true but again, it's a personal opinion. Though i'd agree, as far as pure action go i'm expecting Bayonetta to kick Kratos square in the nuts as i think GoW is more about the spectacle than than the actual game. At least i can certainly admit that i wouldn't have enjoyed God of War and Chains of Olympus (skipped 2) if they hadn't kept me in a sort of wonder being torn between being grossed out, finding the game outright cheezy and thinking the brutality and blood was sort of cool. I mean, i think i could play through Bayonetta without any story or cutscenes but i don't think i'd GoW could stand on combat alone.

My first review. I don't consider myself a good writer in my native language (French), so don't expect some great writing here.

I think it was a thorough enough review.

I played the demo and can tell that the story is indeed weak. The gameplay mechanics are pretty good, though. And lots of sex appeal.

I hate Bayonetta. Not the game but the character herself. I just don't find a single thing cool or sexy about her. But I did enjoy the combat in the game. With that said do you still recommend the game? There is an option to skip all cut scenes like the demo right?

And may I say that Im glad that even if you hate the main character and still want to give the game a chance because of the gameplay that tells that you are in the core a gamer first of all,so kudos to you!!!

I too dislike the character. Although this game is getting really nice reviews I think it is crap and have no intentions to play it. I like hack and slash games to some extent but ninja games are enough for me.

Although I will wait for next ninja game for sure but action games like GOW are more fun to play than just plain hack and slash games IMO

i dint know why so many ppl hate Bayonetta. Anyway i for example dislike the GTA games. i tried every single one a got bored after about 10 hours BUT i would never say that these Games are Crap...i respekt the achievements the gamedevelopers have made by these games. I just dont
get cought by these games so i guess its a personal thing.
So plz dont say Bayonetta is crap ... its a personal dislike you have.
The ratings Bayonetta gets are so good.... maybe ity YOU scared of this badass witch.

^^^ haha I do not care about ratings if I like the game it is good enough for me :P I also do like GTA lol but the character in this game is so annoying. I know this game has some nick hack and slash but that is just my personal opinion about this game.

It is getting nice score than ninja games and DMC. It looks like it :O lol

It simply cant cause u cant compere those two, gow3 is still not realased. But as for NOW bayonetta seems to be THE game. B. gets great scores and personally while i have been playing demo it reminds me of all good times i had when i was a kid playing arcade games and this all fun i got those days are back. It is just pure FUN .

This is the best game I ever played in my life!!!!!!!

It remind me why I love games,something no game this generation has done but Bayonetta,its something special that comes every few years if ever.

So amazing that I can begin to find words to describe it.

I really feel that Kamiya made this game for me

Dunno about this game being the best of it's genre, but I know for a fact that Bayonetta's arse is the best rendered of the genre for sure. If only those cheeks were real. She'd be minted.

Hardly its the "THE" game. Its just a personal preference some people like its style approach in the game, some dont (me included).

There are 5 games in the genre that are titans:

Ninja Gaiden, DMC, Bayonetta and God of War.

Each title is striving for different combat (except DMC and Bayonetta that has similairities).

It just depends what kind of a artstyle and combat you enjoy.

So no, its not "THE" best game in the genre because someone says it is...but for a personal choice of what they prefer its okay to say "its the best game in the genre FOR ME".

Bayonetta clearly seems to be a pretty strong contender for the first position. Ofc that requires that you can stomach the game. I mean...the people who are all like "I hate bayonetta, it's stupid. Kratos is the best hero ewar!!!1one!1" obviously have no say as they are 12 years old and most likely have a severe learning disability ;)

On a more serious note, as a huge third person action game enthusiast i think Bayonetta seems to be a-grade stuff. I've only tried the demo ofc but the system seems to offer enough depth and if reviewers are to be trusted the game seems to be a frantic action fest on par with DMC3. Though i have to say, at the same time, that the overly positive reviews scare me as well. Are they giving it high scores because it has depth, difficulty and takes mastery to fully enjoy or is it because the get to go "Oh man look at that!!! That's sooooo cool!" every 5 seconds? I'd like to believe that it's the first but i also have very little faith in humanity in general :P

Well that's why you actually read the reviews instead of just looking at the scores.

And there's a good chance it's getting high scores for both reasons.
