I just don't feel like reading 20 reviews to see if the metacritic score is justified :P

You could probably read one or two...which to me, would be odd not to do as a gamer.

I don't really feel a need to read them as i already know that no matter what it says i'm still going o buy the game. Generally i don't really trust reviewers either, i'd rather get the scoop from other gamers on forums like this.

"It's been a long time since such a hardcore game had basically zero frustrating points in its main gameplay"

That's what I loved about the 2008's Prince of Persia. Total positive reinforcement.

Nah. It's hard to feel positive reinforcement when a game plays itself.

Bayonetta doesn't punish you too much (on normal), but it does reward you for playing well, both with scores and the satisfaction of pulling off crazy combos, etc. PoP was like playing Bayonetta on "very easy automatic", it just never gave you any feeling of gratification.

Only played past where the 360 demo ended so far but it's holding up pretty damn well so far. I guess you can take a little too much punishment, the game doesn't really force you to bring your a-game (on normal at least) which kind of sucks but i'm expecting that to change once i unlock the harder difficulties. My only beef so far is that they force me to play Normal first. I'd much rather just skip to Hard or Very Hard directly. I jsut don't understand the logic behind unlockable difficulties. Why should i have to play through the game on a too easy difficulty just to play the game in the way i want to? Just give me Bayonetta Must Die straight out of the box :P

Because you have to prove you are worthy of harder diffs.

If you earn that then you can have harder diffs =)

Half joking but yeah the option would be nice but I would play normal first anyway so it doesnt bother that much.

I proved i was worthy of anything when i beat DMC3 on Dante Must Die and NG Black on Very Hard :P
Unlockable difficulties suck ass, it's just artificial lengthening of the suckiest kind.

Meh after a few hours of playing i don't think it's all that good anymore. I just don't feel in control while playing. The game just drenches the whole screen in a flurry of special effects that make it hard to anticipate and time enemies attacks and i find it hard, to the point of frustration, to do combos because you always get interrupted by another enemy no matter what. Even the freaking enemy you are wailing on can interrupt you mid-string. Any given encounters outcome just feels random.

And thats exactly why there is this evolutionary thing called "Dodge Offset" my friend, and Im telling you if you are getting interrupted in a combo and get hit Im afraid you are playing it wrong.

It happened to me too although I did saw the hits coming but somehow I wasnt being quick enough but now that Im getting very good I cancel almost to the point that I dodge offset all my combos and man it looks and feels that you are in total control of Bayonetta and you are in control of everything really.

The enemies have clues and patterns to their attacks you just have to pay attention to the sound and to them, they almost always said something in angelic language before any attack and there weapons shines too, when they are aggro on you if you tease them you have to be a lot more quick in your reflexes because they attack furiously but its all in your hands.

I say give it another go but practice dodge offset more you will find the endless options you will have if you after mastering dodge offset dont like it still then I will give you another advice granted Im still learning too but because I played a lot the demo I practically can dodge offset at any time now,the deaths I been having its because I still dont know the enemies that werent in the demo but with 2 or 3 playthroughs I will begining to really kick some angel ass in a poetic way

Yeah the Dodge Offset helps but pulling it off is just so awkward.

Ever heard of this thing called youtube? It's pretty cool, people can upload videos and stuff. You should check it out.

So IRAIPT0IR, do you use the trigger to do the dodge offset or lockon and dodge with A?

I dont lock on almost never the game use the auto lock kinda like NG only when I will do a launcher attack and I find it more easy to dodge offset without lock on.

What I did was practice the more short combos that ended with a wicked weave like the PKP and just do P hold K dodge and then P over and over.

The key part is to get used to hold the button in the attack you will offset that way you will dodge offset at will ending every combo with a wicked weave.

Press select/back in the loading screen if you dont know that, that will make the loading screen into a practice mode and practice as long as you want and to continue just press select/back again.

The quite amazing thing i find in all of this is that i'm not really one to normally finish my games so quickly having just bought them.It normally takes me a good few sittings and sometimes i just give up alltogether.I have now finished infinite climax mode and my opinion of Bayonetta is that it's nothing short of astonishing in the sense it feels like the best game experience i have ever had

I truly can't tell some of you guys here how opposed i was to the demo.I don't like this sort of thing and it's not as if the lead character is in any way initially charming is it.I hated everything about it and was fairly staggered in fact how it was recieving such seemingly undeserved praise

To all you guys thinking it's not the best in genre, i say more fool you and your ignorance. You might think you know best and your decision to ignore what is after all not appealing, but this goes beyond just some good example in the genre. The game is on the surface something it isn't and if you aren't playing and loving it already, then it's simply because you won't understand the concept of combat yet - the gameplay here is far too good to just file under seen and done and you should honestly question why it is you play games in the first place if you still haven't played this properly yet

Preference is fine but that's a lazy argument here if you knowingly choose not to play what is described as the finest example so far of this
type of game

Some 3 or 4 weeks ago now i was quite heavily slagging this one to mates that were trying their best to convince me otherwise i was being a dick.Looking back it's very clear now how obviously i was full of crap just like how i now see jerks all the time spouting this same old rubbish- all based on nothing but ignorant and daft opinion

I wont make the same mistake ever again from my first impressions, for i wouldn't want to be as horribly wrong twice

Up to you guys but no matter how many times you say it's just not your thing, you're being just another jerk that really should find another hobby.Or at least admit that you will happily choose to not play the best GAMES in the industry. The day i'm stubborn enough ignore a game lavished with overwhelming praise, on the basis that i don't like it's style say, is the day i stop pretending i'm a real gamer - in the sense at least that i tell people i love games

Fair enough because the game is very off putting but in the end it's you that that misses out here big time. And there really is nothing wrong with learning you may have made a mistake concerning your your judgement here

I'm going to be playing this game for years
