It's a shame the BlazBlue sequel will probably be full price, and is a pretty minor update compared to SSF4. I hear ya on DA/Batman/AC2.. also need to play. Need to play the GTA4 DLC too.

Yeah, if anyone is worse than Crapcom when it comes to whoring out their series it's the guys over at Arc. I mean how many versions of GGX2 are there? A million? Possibly the game has smashed through to the 4th dimension, moving freely along the axis of time, hence making itself infinite and eternally spawning unlimited rehashes.

I might pick the "sequel" up though, as i've yet to play Blaz Blue. I'd feel screwed if i had bought it though.

SSF4 has more new content and gameplay than pretty much any full fighter sequel this generation.

They don't make bad games but they sure are good at milking their IPs with slight updates and shitty DLC, or just rehashing the same concept a hojillion time (like Mega Man).

By the way, i don't really see recycling old characters as new content (i mean, as far as i know one new character is announced and two old ones), perhaps that's why i think SSF4 seems a bit more hollow than you. As for gameplay/balance tweaks, that's a nobrainer. No need to even mention the inclusion of that. And i wouldn't agree with SSF4 brining more than any other fighter this gen either, but unless you want to actually discuss that i'm not going down that road :)

It doesn't really matter if some of the characters included in SSF4 are from past iterations, they're not going to be the same chars they've always been. Each character means reworking the entire system and play mechanics of the pre existing game. It's becoming a brand new fighter with new tiers, strategies, moves, and specials. This isn't even including the animation and modeling that needs to happen too. The only rip off I see happening is probably another costume pack, but that is so optional it's almost not worth acknowledging.

I haven't looked into the new Blazblue yet, so I have yet to form an opinion on that one.

As for rehashing and abusing a single release with poor updated "sequels". I think it's going to happen whether we like it or not. Madden will always be minimal with its updates because they know people are okay with just updated rosters and stats. It changes a sports game a lot just like new characters or move sets in a fighter. It changes it up a bit so the game can get some new life. There was a time where this was less common so expansions for 20-30 were the norm. On console though you have limited space and people who don't want to be forced to install games. They'll figure out a solution eventually but untill they find a way to serve up expansions on console somehow they'll reap the benefit of re-releasing the same game with the added content.

Precisely Tinks. The "rehashed" character argument is totally bunk. Any way you slice it, SSF4 has as many as ten new additions to the roster, which trumps the pretty standards 2-4 new characters most sequels get. That includes BlazBlue.. which is a shame because I was going to buy Calamity Trigger late in the game, but there's no point now with the sequel just around the bend. It doesn't offer enough new content to warrant buying both.

I'll probably be getting Blazblue 2 regardless of how much content it has. I love it too much. Story, characters, art (reminds me of Bones), moves, etc. I am a sucker for it.

This is subject to change as I'm planning on playing a fair bit of stuff between now and Jan 15th like UC2 & Batman. Some stuff I've only recently finished like Assassins Creed 2, though that game was quite affecting I'm hesitant to chuck it in without some reflection.
