Yeah I feel the same way about the really heavy stuff that just grinds my brain and annoys me to no end, so it's an impossible situation to escape entirely with music being soooo taste-oriented.

It'd be too bad if the choice in music genre keeps a cool gaming concept out of the hands of would-be fans though, so yeah, DLC or "expansion discs" for the DRM-cautious would be cool.

For the game itself, extra outfits are a nice way of sort of tailoring your character TO AN EXTENT to your own taste, but that can be taken much further of course. While there should always be a no frills way to just play through a track list if you want, I really would love to see some more power over where you're playing, how much money you're making, how the stage is set up, et cetera. A huge part of what makes GH so successful is how accessible it is and I wouldn't wanna lose that of course, but it would be a nice addition to the series regardless.

I think the camera angles and stuff in GH3 really add to the experience, and The Killers "When you were young" in the bit where you hold a note and he's singing and it pans over the audience really makes that song something special to play, in my opinion (helps that I really like the song too of course) and it would be awesome if you could set up the show to have lights come on at a certain point or to rig pyrotechnics for that crazy Dragonforce solo.

Unless they made it so that things like that boosted your score (like a multiplier or a link of some sort, confined to only this special "Tour Mode") it would be largely superficial, but I still reckon it would be a lot of fun to have some degree of control over these things.

My 3 favourite songs to PLAY at the moment in GH3 are probably Black Magic Woman on hard, Cliffs of Dover on hard, and The Devil Went Down to Georgia on medium. The first two aren't really songs I'd listen to as I do lean towards the heavier stuff (although I'm really not a huge fan of growling...or these guitar wank-fests that are Scandinavian metal), but they are guitar-heavy songs suited to be in a game called Guitar Hero.

The one downside of downloadable songs besides the price, for me, is the lack of achievement associated with them. Unless I'm playing socially or something, I'm really only driven to play to beat it. I've played maybe 3 of the bonus songs because I don't "win" anything for doing so. Even songs I actually like I wouldn't pay to download. Maybe if I were at the point where I was acing songs on Expert and had 5-starred all the songs, I'd be bored and feel inclined to try some new songs, but right now, there's absolutely no reason for me to pay for songs that I won't feel motivated to play at all.

That's a valid point I think, and my mind boggles when trying to understand what's allowed to give you points and what isn't on the marketplace. I mean GRAW had extra points, and Tomb Raider Anniversary gave you points even as a downloaded title through Legend (albeit just 250 of them in total, but still).

I mean if you get three songs then each song could sort you with at least 50ish points, but then again as I said I have no idea what the conditions are for allowing it.

I don't even need achievement points associated with them, but some kind of reward would be nice. Achievements that other people could see but with no points, or maybe something like a new venue, character, guitar, etc... that comes with a song pack that is only available after beating the pack.

To be fair though, maybe once i start playing the bonus songs, I'll find some fun ones that I won't mind playing over and over again. I play Cliffs of Dover and TDWDTG over and over again in between boss battle attempts simply because I find them fun. Maybe the same would be true of downloadable songs...if they were cheaper mind you :P

Absolutely, I very much agree with both sentiments. I'm rather in line with Grift's position, that points are essentially redundant, and in many cases just a cause for headaches when you *really* don't wanna suffer through a shoddy multiplayer component of an otherwise enjoyable game just to max it out. The Darkness, I am indeed looking at you.

However, it really comes down to what the songs are. DLC is an opportunity to pick what you wanna play, and that is ultimately enough for me personally. I really *wanted* to play Killer Queen because it's a great song, but it was bunched together with two songs I didn't want to play and flogged for 500 points. I can't even design a less desirable offer if I tried.

Either separate songs, put them in genre packs or packs by artists, anything but the GH2 way of doing it is vastly superior.
