Lol. You're not inside the Halo fan community at all are you? Just last week there were several threads on HBO bitching and tearing into ODST and its faults and offering their own opinions on what Reach should be like and such, all from some of the most hardcore and longstanding fans of the series.

And b.net? lmao, theres always bitching and moaning going on there.
Ok, ok, if what you're saying is true then I stand corrected. I haven't really spent much time over there since the launch of ODST, and I certainly wasn't there last week when all of this supposed bitching and moaning was going on. lol!

But I'm being absolutely honest with you when I tell you that my observations of B.net is that of a community of drooling admirers. Maybe that's changed since the launch of ODST, but I'm just telling you what I've observed in the past

Halo needs a certain gameplay composition to let its mechanics thrive. Modern Warfare 2 is an infinitely more simple, basic game where you can pretty much throw anything at it and it'll never work better or worse because of it.

Criticising Halo for not having outright frontline war type scenarios is really about being hugely ignorant towards the way it plays and how to make its gameplay prosper. Even the city in ODST is on the limits of what's possible with movement speed as slow as Halo's, and when you start putting in sprint buttons and sacrificing the medium quarter mind battles of it, you've effectively broken Halo.

God knows the multiplayer community would freak the fuck out if anything important about the way it fundamentally plays was altered, because those guys are what's keeping every FPS under the sun from changing in any meaningful ways these days. But even then, even beyond multiplayer it seems of little value to go in and tinker with finely tuned GAMEPLAY in order to compete with SPECTACLE.

Because Modern Warfare 2 - as much as I loved it to absolute bits - is about spectacle, not gameplay. I doubt most people will even play it twice.

Nah simon, i just would like it to be about the book which i assume its based on... fall of reach was epic and i would like that translated well into game, but to do that they will need full on war, and not sprint button god no, just more warthogs to thrash the shit of.

Actually the book is mostly about The Chiefs childhood and brutal training and character development along with intimate small squad tactical combat encounters, and only really moves into the big scale combat near the end, so if the games is like that i would love it, its not going to be massive scale battles all the way through the game in fact if they choose to follow the book the most battles will be small encounters and the big ass battle wont come until the end of the game.

Well that battle was a spaceship battle so we will only get that in cutscenes i suspect, the Spartans on the ground if the game follows the book will split into 2 teams Red and Blue, Master Chief and the Blue team set off to ensure that a UNSC Slipspace navigation database stayed out of Covenant hands and the Red team (or rest of the spartans) take on the Covenant that have landed troops on Reach with the objective of destroying the generators for the Super MAC Cannons.

Yeah but the ground battle was immense, but question is does the player want to be split from the chief to go and play as a other spartan, we all know what happened with 2
Been split from the main character be it a other chief or a elite does not matter it hurt the feel of "your" the chief.

Very different in this case as there all Spartans with the own unique talents and characteristics that we all know and love, and if it is squad based then it will be even more amazing, what you also have to remember is this is not Halo 4, 343 are working on that baby, this game is based around the fall of reach so the chief is not the only character they can choose to concentrate on, the true Halo fans would love to be able to play as Linda / James ect... and flesh out there stories.

Very true allot of people think that Reach is all about massive ground battles, when the truth of the matter is near all the battles were basicaly small battels, where team tactics came into play, and the big battles happend mostly in space, i really hope we get to see the other spartans faces :)

I would also love to play as linda and kel n co, but truth of the matter is IF you play as the chief in it, i would rather play from his perspective throughout and not jump from one to a other, well unless the chief is going for a dump... dont wanna play that out.
