I really dont understand why they removed its chrome finish, it looks very plastic in halo 3, like a toy lol

all armor and weapons in Halo 3 seem to have that plastic look unfortunately

I can understand removing the shine from the armour because Army gear really shouldnt reflect as it defeats tho whole idea of camo, but the Pistol looks very toy like in the beta, so i hope deft is right that it may change.

In Wired's screenshots? They show less aliasing than the off screen pictures..

Epitah is a lot smaller than it looks in some of the screens. Not had a chance to have a spin round the others that haven't been announced yet save for one which is kinda small but, well different. Certainly not a map in Halo like it yet.

Looks to be a lot of variety though so I wouldn't worry too much. I wouldn't say Guardian is that much larger than Lockout either.

Sounds good.. still it seems like the smallest maps in H3 are much larger than the smallest maps in Halo 2. Snowbound was pretty small--but the exterior portion of the map is actually pretty large. The level design really makes it all flow like a much smaller map though. It's amazing how many people hated Snowbound in the beta.. I love it.

Elephant seems like a great addition to the game modes.. is it still only available on one map? That'd be a shame.

Yeah it's only available on Sandtrap. The thing is massive, it wouldn't make sense anywhere else, even Valhalla, which is probably the next biggest map.

You're right on with the comment about map flow, I think that's a big focus this time around, so even if the maps are bigger I think many of them will still play better with 6-8 players.

I enjoyed High Ground in both 4v4 and 6v6 so that map was pretty versatile. Zanzibar was always good with 4v4 but Last Resort does feel bigger, will have to see how that plays with less players.

Yay I'm back! It was very cool to meet Luke and Stinkles! Saw Marty too but he was too far away to say hi. Got there about 7 pm and was about 150th in line. Yah it was about an hour long. They are having another show right now for the people that didn't get in the first show.

Halo 3 on IMAX was frickin incredible! They showed off 3 things primarily. Luke and Stinkles did a co-op part of a mission (bah I forget which one), then they showed off Forge (really neat), and then a saved game film that they had at E3 of Sandtrap (?), which floored me the most. Being able to direct the camera wherever you want it was amazing, made the entire skirmish seem like a cutscene. And the audio is freezeframe too. Stinkles took the camera underwater because he said Marty would have killed him if we didn't get to hear that sound effect lol.

The loading screen is awesome too. Really awesome.

One dude got a prize because he was in the lucky seat... a Legendary helmet signed by Bungie peeps. Lucky guy!

And it just all looks so SOLID. So pretty.

Oh, during the co-op mission they exited a mountain or a tunnel or something, and this GIANT ship comes out of nowhere and buzzes the mountain, and the crowd went nuts... it was totally impressive and amazing looking.

Unfortunately nothing new was shown, but it is sooo much better when you see it in person. The screens and info don't do them justice. It needs to be seen in person.

The first thing they did was play through Tsavo Highway. WOW! On a huge IMAX it looked hands down one of the best overall graphical titles coming this Fall. Then they showed off Forge with Highground and Saved Films with Sandtrap. And the first glimpse of the loading screen was seen

It is such a beautiful game, screenshots do not do this game any justice at all. While screens look good, this game looks 100x better in motion. The lighting, framerate, explosions looked amazing. At one point a Covenant Cruiser flys overhead and it "WOWd" me more than GOW ever did. The whole level is played using the Warthog. They played it on an easy setting but the AI was still very well done. Brutes threw down shields and Grunts ran for their lives if you killed a Brute leader. The sky and backdrop/drawdistance is also very awe inspiring. I wish you guys could've seen it. I am sure a vid will be available soon. Oh yah, and they showed off the brute hammer! IT was SICK!

The loading screen is a WORK OF ART. It's a halo ring materializing in a cloud of thousands and thousands of particles.

Whatever projector/scaler they used, I WANT ONE. There was suprisingly few jaggies, and the image quality was outstanding.

At times Luke pointed the camera to the sky and showed Banshees flying overhead while the ground battles were still in play and the framerate didn't dip at all. It was very epic and you felt like you were in the battle for the Human race.

Oh okay they say it was Halo 3 multi-colored kubricks, but somehow I don't believe thats what was on the disc :)

They better intend to show Halo 3 publically at Leipzig I really just want to see it in motion.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

August 22, 2007 - We haven't seen what Microsoft has to show on Halo 3 yet at the Leipzig Games Convention (we still have to wait a few hours for our official appointment since it's not playable on the show floor), but we did spot a quite formidable monument to Halo 3 in the parking lot. The multi-story behemoth is certainly an eye-catcher at this year's GC, and Microsoft even has a closed-circuit television feed of the Ferris wheel in its booth to remind the crowds what awaits them if they dare to venture outside in the bright, bright sunlight.
Don't worry, we'll be bringing you updated impressions of Halo 3 after our demo, which will be later today. Unfortunately, we also don't have hands-on impressions of the Halo 3 Ferris wheel either, mainly because we're all big height-fearing wussies.
