High Resolution Screens of the demo that was presented in Japan. The characters models are Quite solid and I love the atmosphere, although I could use some color variety, I dont want colors a la Blue Dragon but something a bit vivid but then again MGS has always been like this! :D

Why so little colors? I don't know, mood and all aside the color is grossly 2D, it was like this in resistance as well and also KZ2, seems to be a PS3 trend.

Motorstorm was colorful thouhg. I wouldnt say it's a PS3 trend, just an artisitic direction decision really.

Saw the demo in HD on my PS3, it was very intense. Absolutely cannot wait for this game.

COD 4's pre-alpha stage looks better than most game's gone gold stage.

Saying you cant find animaton in Japan is like saying you cant find food in Italy. Its simply not true.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

Well, I'll just copy and paste what I said before. Notice I said I found it lacking in ALL regards, not character models only.

"Ok, so textures go from average to really awful, shadowing is average, gameplay animations are pathetic, lighting is totally flat, the fire looks like crap, and physics are pretty much average too. What we end up with is an average looking game."

Character models is the best as the game has as far as graphics go because yes, they are detailed. At the same time though, Snake looks like a toy, his skin pale with not enough detail to differentiate it from a huge toy model.

And I actually like the art style, but.......

Ugh. And I don't want to even hint at any sort of comparison to any other game out there, but clearly, this game can't impress me right now.

The animations did not bother me, they're no Uncharted or HS, but for an MGS game, they were good. Nothing looked out of place or too robotic.

Well Labetao you gotta think about it this way...MGS is about cinematic story than having the best visuals to go with.

sure its MGS next-gen but still, its far from done you know.

And I do agree about the textures for sure, it has problems here and there, and the animation is a bit not-smooth.

But hopefully closer to release it gets better. If not I guess people would for sure see past the visuals like always and go for what it is known for...story and characters.

well, I think the animations look wonky. They all move like they're constipated or something. But then again, it's not like previous MGS had good animations either. So it's something I've come expect and deal with. I don't think they will be addressed in this installment either, so whatever. The A.I. needs some work too. Kojima said in the presentation that this is "a stealth game", but it sure doesn't look like that when you can snipe someone from across the map, and none of his nearby buddies notice it even despite the loud sound it emitted. Then of course, them not noticing a freaking barrel rolling at them, and somehow that is strong enough to knock them out? Riiighht.

Anyway, I'm just nit picking just to nit pick. Still think overall it looks good. It's just the animation and A.I. that stick out like a sore thumb, but like I said, those issues were in previous MGS. Can't have it all. The overall presentation though looks nice. Looking forward to playing the game whenever it finally is released :P


Edit: Oh yeah, I was suppose to stay out of this thread after my first post. Oooops :P

In my opinion MGS4 looks a lot worser than Splinter Cell Double Agent in terms of graphics and character animations. Characters looks good in Cutscenes, but not in gameplay.

Gotta compare to unreleased famous stealth games together, and both games have to be exclusive to their own console, meaning SC Conviction for 360 and MGS4 for PS3.

And you gotta think of it like this...Kojima NEVER uses CG or anything like that stuff in his cutscenes. Everything in gameplay is in cutscene visual, and vice versa.

I prefer MGS4 for sure, its pure bad ass!
Fictional futuristic with modern patterns, whats not to like.

I am not talking about Splinter Cell Conviction, but Double Agent. In my opinion it even doesn't match the visuals of Double Agent.

Double Agent:




MGS4




Splinter Cell Conviction provides stunning visuals (lighting, texture quality) and plays in another league than MGS4 (in my opinion).

Exactly, I agree. MGS definately looks sharper and I like that very much. I think the metal gear solid games have always had the same sort of feel artistically and MGS4 is no different like I said.
