yes, everybody seems to be using these. last night every game i was in had someone using them. they are ridiculously overpowered, even at medium distance.

I think they fit the game perfectly, as arcady as it is..

Yeah no one would use them if they weren't almost as accurate as other guns. I find in MW2 it almost doesn't matter what gun you use at any distance.
I use Akimbo Smgs sometimes in close quarters

I played a lot of CoD4 on the PC, and I would summerize it as: all the guns are lethal. Map control is important as is taking good lines of site for shots. At 8 hours I am still seeing new maps and have only played a couple modes. But as I get back into it my KDR is rocketing up and things I thought were frustrasting before are EASILY countered.

As I said. I can only play on WEs, and every Friday the game feels worse than the last Sunday I played it on. I'm gone from being almost always in the top 3 with the highest K/D ratio to being the one who struggles to have a positive one. Now I'm happy to get on a 2 kill streak since I either die from respawns (which happens a lot cause I'm usually the one very close to the enemy team and use cold blooded), or get killed by one of the cheap "instant death before you can even pull the trigger" weapons I specified earlier. Yes, the M16 is one of them. It's still a one burst kill and it's still incredibly accurate from hip fire.

What's even worse is that people playing this game are total idiots. I'm always the only one with a stinger shooting down the Harriers and other stuff, haven't seen anyone do it. They rather make a quick respawn, run into the open and get killed over and over again.

Just as I suspected. I realised that I was just one level away from the M16, so I though what the heck, I'll go for it just for the giggles. Now, after playing quite a few matches with it I can see why I constantly died against it. It's just ridiculously good, it's as if I'm playing an entirely different game. Got a triple kill with it across the map the first match and went MVP. Didn't have one bad match except for the constantly stuttering framerate and host migration.

I've been having a ton of fun with the MP. Host migration and lag haven't been issues yet. I've only been killed twice by akimbo shotguns and relatively few times by the noobtube.

It's really only rewarding if you play the game constantly. If you only play once in a while you're going to have a really hard time guaranteed. That is the main problem with the game.
It's difficult to play a game that rewards people with more free time than myself. Skill only gets me so far sometimes.
Same goes for the weapons as you mention Viginti. The M16 is one of the best guns in the game. If anyone is ahead of you in level it's going to be there to frustrate you till you earn it.

Infinity Ward's conducted a wave of bans aimed at culling cheaters on the PC version of Modern Warfare 2.

The developer's decision to ditch dedicated servers was supposed to make illegal tinkering of the shooter more difficult for hackers, but as anyone who's played the PC version for any length of time will tell you: it doesn't seem to have worked.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling sends the good news: "Top men are on it. In fact, the Steam ban hammer is coming down on about 2,500 confirmed #MW2 cheaters on PC today."

Yea.. I don't think that was ever a question. VAC has been flagging cheaters for weeks now.. it was only a question of when. They say it's so they get the drop on the hackers.. if they banned them immediately, I guess the concern is that they would turn around and come out with new hacks that much sooner. Server administration would go a long way to quiet them in the meantime.

It's worse than the M16 in almost every respect. The slower bursts make it impractical at very short distances and it's very hard to hit a target transversely moving with all 3 bullets when it's lagy (read: most of the time).

That's just my experience with both weapons. The key attribute of the M16 is its consistency, thus it's a better choice.

For those of you that finished the story, I wrote some thoughts about it for CouchCampus. In short, I thought COD4 had a better one.

In MW2, it seems to be a bit all over the place. Lots of great moments to be sure but the over-arching story isn't as cohesive as the first. Part of the reason why I think, is that one set of missions are arguably inferior to the others and are definitively lacking in any good characters that you could give two hoots about.

Spoilers abound but if you fancy reading something that doesn't mention "No Russian" for a change feel free to tell me where I'm full of it :)

Yeah, I didn't really have much issue with the beginning weapons feeling much inferior to the later ones, and it didn't take long to unlock something like the SCAR which is quite decent.

I don't remember, but what is the default primary for the Assault default class?

What I noticed while playing on my own is: 8/10 times I start matchmaking I get dropped into a game that's 10 seconds away from finishing and I'm on the losing team with a 10 kill difference....
HOW THE FUCK is anyone supposed to have a positive win/lose ratio with this shit :)

All you have to do is play a few games with that same group...then you won't be dropped into as many games that are in progress. Also, the ONLY downside to losing a match that you've invested no time in is it negatively affects your win/loss ratio..which really isn't a big deal.

How do I get stuck playing High Rise and Wasteland over and over again and have only just played this map once? Brutal... though I must say, I didn't really enjoy Rust at all. Too small and hectic.

I had the same thing, I was level 40 before I found out that map existed. It's only being played in the smaller game modes though... That's why we missed it...

I guess it'd make sense that it's for smaller game modes since I thought the map was small and hectic with 12 people, and it'd make sense for it not to show up in regular rotation for the larger modes.
