Chris as Thor will definitely give him more roles, I mean you got to start somewhere and IMO he pulled off a good Thor since I was VERY unsure about it when I saw a image of him in that role.

Thor made him famous and now with Avengers, everything can be good for him.
He is even in that Snow White re-boot type of movie as well.
Also the character development was great in Thor.
How we went from a "mr know it all do it all" to nothing until he met humans and spent time with them and understood them and he changed his way of viewing things and got granted the hammer because he became worthy of it.

It isn't about him being terrible himself, it's about him not having the same recognition and credibility as the other actors in The Avengers film.
Maybe when he's proven himself more and people start to recognize him, he'll be in Avengers 2 more than he was in 1.

Since 7119 DaysI'd also say that since the main villain is Loki, more time is needed to explain why all the Avengers outside of Thor have a problem with him. Otherwise their teaming up feels shallow and then the whole film fails.
