Finished watching Lost, great show with some bad seasons. Looks like it was due to a writers strike as Manthatyoufear pointed out. What should I watch next? Battlestar Gallactica? I love scifi

Terra Nova sucked hard. The worst reality show is more entertaining that the best Terra Nova had to offer.

I loved Prometheus. That movie was fantastic! Save for the alien bit at the beginning... after I learned what it was after the movie was over I thought that scene was stupid.
Noomi Rapace is so awesome, and would be a fitting replacement for Ripley if the franchise continued. Talk about super babe in this.

It was enjoyable but I'm a little disappointed in it.. even compared to other recent Ridley Scott films. The script was a bit weak. Sure, the science is shoddy, but that's not really my issue here. There are simply too many intentional loose ends, and characters that experience a sudden surge in knowledge simply to move the film along. The captain drops a ton of it on Noomi Rapace in the final act, seemingly just to catch the audience up on the conclusions that he's drawn without any evidence to suggest these things. They presume to know the role these creatures played on Earth, and what their intentions are on their return.. based on what exactly? A little magic DNA? Did I mention the science was shoddy? And okay.. beyond all of that.. I just felt like the thing lacked intensity. There wasn't anything here to keep me on the edge of my seat. It was sorta the opposite of thrilling.

This is not the triumphant return to science fiction that I would have hoped for. It was simply an acceptable attempt. The Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers remain my favorites of the year so far.

I'm a big Ridley Scott fan. I even have a lot of love for Kingdom of Heaven, the most globally panned Scott film. This is maybe his worst movie. Probably not.. but it's definitely in the lower half.

I also like the loose ends. I know a lot of people are pissed about it, but I like drawing my own conclusions on all the big issues it intentionally or unintentionally brings up. A friend of mine is even more in love with that aspect than I am. He's hoping there isn't a sequel because he wants it to remain unanswered. Ebert kinda says the same thing in his review.
I do think the movie is too heavy handed, some simplification would have been a good idea. It's too ambitious though and tries to do too much. Caring more for the ideas than the characters on the screen.
I agree with you too on how the story moves along. There are some really simple stupid decisions that make you scratch your head. Like the two scientists who split off and their interaction in that room is just lame.
Fassbender and Rapace make the film what it is though. You're questioning David the entire film just like you are the story at hand.

Robin Hood is easily his worst film

No, it tried to be, but it really wasn't. All of the action just seemed out of place to me. I was not invested in any of it, mostly because most of the characters were so dull.

They answered the questions that needed no answers, poorly. The open ends (like David's experimentation on the crew) are sorta clear indication that it's driving towards a sequel.

I don't think it's heavy handed at all. The big ideas here aren't really that big, nor are they handled especially well. Being the best of the Alien spin-offs just isn't enough for me. This could have been exceptional and I don't think it was.
