iraipt00ir: yeah, it sucks. Seriously though, it's alright. If you like the previous movies you should give it a go.

Watched terminator salvation today. It sucked pretty bad. Crappiest terminator so far :P

I've only seen t3 once and that was when it was new, but i remember the action as being better in that movie, event hough it also sucked nuts in general.

I thought Salvation was vastly better than T3. Much much much better. It actually has you convinced for its entire length that what you're watching is at least a tiny bit relevant in the grander scope of Terminatorness, whereas T3 from the moment you.. even.. think about what that movie is before you even see it you just know it's a weird stop gap that plays more like some kind of tongue in cheek tribute to T2 than being a real, own movie. Oh and also it's boring.

Salvation actually feels like a different movie from all the previous ones and can thus be enjoyed fully on its own merits.. which is to say some pretty suspenseful chases, an intense albeit played down Connor, courtesy of Bale, and some pretty successful winks to the series on a whole. All in all I enjoyed Salvation a lot more than I thought it would, and I just wanna offer a counter point to Megido's - fully justified in its own right - trashing.

I just found Salvation really lacking in impact. There was a lot of action but it just felt silly or boring, the only thing that made it even remotely terminator-ish were the terminators and the endless references to T2 didn't help either. The insane plot-holes in teh story didn't help either. I mean really, if skynet KNEW that Kyle Reese is the father of Connor, why would they even start baiting some godforsaken trap and all that bullshit? Just kill him before he's sent back and Connor is toast. Shit, Reese was even #1 on the terminator hit-list, why'd they bring him to some goddamn nazi-slave camp!? And that's without mentioning all the time paradoxes. I guess i was entertained while i watched it but it certainly comes nowhere near the first two and the boring, spiritless, action just killed it for me. Kudos for Bale's elbow-drop/high-voltage resuscitation at the end though, made me go "lol".

Sure, I agree with all of what you're saying, but like you say it's entertaining while it lasts. I'm not entirely convinced you CAN make a movie set where Salvation is and keep it entirely plothole free either. I mean it's such a time travel mindfuck at that point. Seeing as Kyle Reese is nowhere near the age he is when he's sent back you have to assume that that time's Skynet / everyone in there except Connor himself is oblivious to the connection between them. They were gunning for Connor in the movie after all, not explicitly Kyle Reese.

In fact you can't bring the "reality" of all of the future stuff and all of the previous "contemporary" stuff together, because they constantly change one another. There is only the one "now" after all.

I thought the action was engaging personally. The whole helicopter/T-800 sequence I thought was awesome.

Simon: except that they mention in the movie that they swiped a hit-list from the terminators upon which Connor is #2 and Reese is #1 :)

Well, I finally got the chance to see Slumdog Millionaire a week or so ago - I know, late to the party as always.

I can see why it got so many plaudits and award to be honest. Great, great film... really does provoke a mixture of emotions.

Absolutely incredible. Just finished watching Gran Torino and wow!

Really unbelievable in pretty much all respects.

There is so much I love about the movie, so many great scenes that it's almost tough to single out any scene in particular, but the barber scene when he brought Tao aka toad with him was just amazing lol. Teaching him to talk like a man and then when the guy comes back in all rude he tells him you can't just walk into a guy's place and insult him like that lol.

Definitely one of the single greatest movies I've ever seen. Man... what a movie.

And the ending... just shocked me, really. I half expected Walt to go out all guns blazing in a grand finale. When he reached for his pocket, I had no doubt in my mind that he was getting out a gun. Then, when you see the lighter in his hand, it finally all makes sense. He knew that the only way to give Tao and Sue a chance at life was to get that gang locked up for good. He knew he was going to kick the bucket soon anyway, so he made sure there were witnesses and made sure he was killed.

I shed a bit of a tear at that part - I'm a wuss like that. But really, just sheer genius.

Just watched Taken, starring Liam Neeson. Completely different to the film I saw yesterday (Gran Torino), but awesome nonetheless. I'd definitely recommend it.

Let's just say that Neeson really doesn't take any shit throughout the film. Some of the kills are just... insanely cool.

Brokeback deserves some sort of award for not getting fucked by the MPAA. Other than getting away with being very gay (more so than any other movie i've ever seen) it's alright but not remarkable.
