best modern Stoner film, I would agree.
hard to say if it beats Up in Smoke or other Cheech & Chong films though.

Just saw Up 3d last night. What a great movie. Also my first 3d movie and I was quite engrossed by the effects. My friend said that all it did was bring things out towards you. I asked him about depth of scenes and he said no. But that's exaclty what it was like. Every scene had so much depth to it. Incredible.
Up is one of the better 3d movies to not use the effect in cheesy, gratuitous ways. I found it was mostly noticeable through the subtle depth in the scenes, whereas most 3d movies I've seen only seem to really use it when something is deliberately coming toward the camera.

And yeah, Pineapple Express...kicks a ton o' ass.

I watched Drag Me to Hell as well. I did not like it one bit. I don't see the point of these over-the-top horror movies that don't have any gore. They certainly don't have any other redeeming qualities... or at least this one didn't.
Gore porn is fucking stupid. I want to see Drag Me to Hell even more now.

It's also above 90% still on RT, which is pretty amazing for a horror flick.

Gore porn is stupid, I agree, but gore itself is great in the context of a decent horror/action/fantasy movie. Drag Me to Hell not only lacked gore, but it wasn't even remotely good in any respect. It was like a high-school student with a hard on for Army of Darkness wrote and directed it.

I'm pretty sure Sam Raimi does have a hard-on for Army of Darkness.

I'm sure he does, and when he wants to take a stab at remaking Drag Me to Hell instead of his pussy doppelganger, I'll give it a rent.

I recently watched Year One with jack black. I'm not going to lie, it was a hell of a lot better than I was expecting lol.

Not sure why, but I expected it to be a far shorter movie than it actually ended up being, which really surprised me.

watched 'yes man' and thought it was pretty damn funny, and weirdly, i thought the fake band "munchausen by proxy" where really good...lol. as was jim carreys version of jumper by 3rd eye blind. jims funiest movie in a long time imo

also watched the boy in the striped pyjamas, which was an amazingly well acted film (aspecially the 2 kids, bruno and shmaul) the film really sticks with you long after viewing too, but it was an incredibly depressing film, partly becasue it's core focus is a family of germans who's father is a nazi kommandant (kinda hard to sypathise) and the other reason it is depressing i cant really go into without spoiling the movie, but it's definately one i'd recomend and has a really interesting take on the holocaust (german childs point of view). dont watch if you're already depressed tho, it may lead you to suicide.

If I went by my expecations based on the previews, it was far, FAR worse than I was expecting. If I went by my updated expectations after hearing friends' impressions of it, it was only slightly worse than what I was expecting. It did have both Paul Rudd(my man crush) and David Cross though, so it gets huge points there. All of the parts with Oliver Platt were hilarious.

Yea, when you break it down, it is a pretty awful movie, but I went in expecting that, and it turned out to be much better than I thought.

I went in expecting one massively low budget film that only stuck to the cavemen side of things, but I was surprised to see them introduce a lot of the other things that they did. It's like they weren't even trying to make the movie make sense lol.

Just watched:

Transformers 2: Oh my god, what is this?!? So bad, so utterly utterly bad.

Monster vs Aliens: Actually pretty good with some really cool animation and it did get me to laugh (rare) at times.

Star Trek (the new one): Enjoyed the hell out of this one.

Young guns: Still holds up pretty decent and Emelio is amazing in it.

Watched Where the Wild Things Are yesterday

Really excellent movie. Completely metaphorical to Spike Jonze and a man's journey to find himself. Also especially interesting is Karen O whom he dated or still dates does the music of the entire film.

slightly related but, before I passed out last night I was able to catch Shawn of the Dead (is that how you spell shawn? whatever)

Freaking hilarious. That has to be one of the best zombie flicks I've ever witnessed.
I just wish the UK could ditch the hardcore accent because I really have to focus to understand some words.

I love 'em anyway. Great movie. Make more.

edit
Oh yeah, I didn't like the ending.

We (the UK) don't have one, general accent. It's called the English accent, although that in itself is still pretty vague. Either way, it's pretty easy to understand. :P

I have a hard enough time figuring out the accents in the USA.
For you it may be easy to understand but I end up hunched over my seat trying to understand some stuff.

I'm not talking about SOTD in particular, actually it mostly catchable but some movies I can't even watch, the accent is so thick.

Is it that good? I speculated it had to be some kind of a bad attempt at the B-Movie genre in a high profile Hollywood production. Might give it a shot, but the expectations are low. Anyway I went into Planet Terror with rather low expectations and got out rather amazed.

yeah, it rocks.
I guess I shouldn't pigeon hole the UK, as probably my favorite zombie flick, 28 Days Later, is UK (I think?) and the accents are minimal at most.

sorry, I don't mean to be an American douchebag or anything.
