JJ Abrams wrote and directed Super 8. I don't think Spielberg took anything but his checkbook out on this film.

Classic Spielberg? Gah.

Oh, sorry - didn't realise that Abrams directed it as well as penning the sript.

It still has a Spielberg feel to it though; pretty much ET meets War of the Worlds. In any case, I'd recommend giving it a watch.

I just hate it when people get too much credit for something.. like JJ Abrams did for LOST for example! :)

If you're the most recognizable name attached to something, you sorta steal the show.

Nah I agree. It's funny because I was led to believe Spielberg made it... shows how misleading it all is.

Saw Super 8. Liked it a lot. Can see that Spielberg took a lot of inspiration from his own movies - namely ET and War of the Worlds amongst others - but there's certainly nothing wrong with that. It wasn't wholly original, and at times it was a tad cheesy, but I really enjoyed it and thought it had a lot of the ingredients you'd want a movie to contain. Classic Spielberg, really.

The kid actors were great as well. Very impressed with 'em.
speilberg was just the producer, JJ done all the work and made this movie as basically a love letter to speilberg me thinks.

EDIT: sorry did not notice grift pointed it out :)
Fully enjoyed that movie, felt like the goonies/Monster Squad.

Agreed 100%.

The worst movie I've had the displeasure of making the mistake of seeing in a theater.

Not worth it. There are other, better movies out there with pretty girls who also get nekkid.

Sucker Punch was a shitty music video.

Battle: Los Angeles.

Didn't have any expectations at all considering the battering this film got from reviewers, but I have to say I kinda loved it. Original? No. Cliché? Yes. But I watch films for entertainment, and boy was I entertained. Aaron Eckhart is a damn fine actor too.

I saw the Green Lantern in 3D today, and it's my most favorite Comic-movie-adaption to date (2nd: Watchmen, 3rd: Batman Returns). Was a really good movie, though I didn't wait until the end of the credits and missed that bonus-scene ... oh well

Ditto

Boy was I ever not entertained. It's like the epitome of uninspired action. There wasn't a single scene in that entire movie where I could be talking about it and say something like, "hey, you remember that awesome scene where......"

Gotta agree with Ronsauce. I didn't find that movie interesting at all. Maybe cause it was being talked up so much by my friends and they seen it in the cinema, whereas I seen it on Dvd.

Anyway, I seen Machete.

Best. Movie. Ever.

Fair enough, really. I just liked the fact that it was non-stop ground-level action.

It's never going to win any Oscars obviously, but it was entertaining for me.

The only scene that stood out was when the soldiers got off the helicopter with him after he said he was going alone.

And there wasn't even any fighting in that scene...

Agreed, I even fell asleep by the part when they kill one in a pool.

Boring movie IMO.

so nobody saw Green Lantern, ey? ... what a shame ... IMO it's a very good superhero-flick! And Blake Lively is very hot in this one ... never really took notice of her so far :D

I saw it. I thought it was as good as a Green Lantern movie could be. Unfortunately, I think the Green Lantern is a shitty superhero, conceptually-speaking, that is an inherently uninteresting movie character.

Also, I thought some of the stuff conjured up was retarded and not what I'd call efficient solutions to the problems presented.

As an antagonist, Parallax wasn't exactly compelling either.

Still, Blake Lively is definitely hot, and Ryan Reynolds is a charming motherfucker.
