They're rebooting it because when Nolan leaves Bale probably goes with him. And honestly I would feel bad for any director trying to pick up Nolan's world and try to live up to what he started.
Bale leaving would only be bad for continuity within the Nolan Batman world. It's not like there's anything particularly awesome about Bale's Batman that couldn't be matched by other actors. Plus, any chance to do away with that gruff, borderline parody-of-itself voice is a bonus.

I'd feel bad for any director picking up in Nolan's world mostly because it'd be more limiting than simply rebooting. Also, whereas Batman Begins had the VERY low bar of Batman & Robin to beat, a reboot will have a tougher time being impressive based on what preceded it.

New Spidey won't be able to top Spiderman 2.

The new actor playing Spiderman looking like a tool doesn't help either

And Spiderman 3 was the worst of the bunch, so it's not really a valid argument against a reboot....if that's what you were getting at.

He surfaced with Drag Me To Hell, though, so he's still okay in my book.

Raimi is good when he gets to do the stuff he is good at, spider man was obviously not one of those things. I think the entire trilogy was rather mediocre. 2 was the best of the bunch but that ain't saying much. Just let him do shit like Evil Dead and Drag me to Hell, that's where he shines.

I disagree. I thought Spiderman 1/2 were pretty great, especially for superhero movies.

I also thought Drag Me to Hell was horrible. It wasn't scary, it wasn't funny, it wasn't remotely shocking, it wasn't fun. It felt like a big studio's version of a Raimi movie; it never went far enough in any direction and was completely boring as a result.

I don't believe that. Nobody wants to set out to make a shitty movie.

I'm sure it was just a case of talentless producers and execs sticking their noses into things thinking their ideas were great when they obviously weren't.

Again, for clarity's sake(since you seem to think I haven't seen them...or something..?), I've seen them. All of them. More than once. The notion that he'd intentionally make a shitty film is ridiculous and isn't the same as knowing that the elements that the higher-ups want included in the movie are shitty.

Well to me all three spider man movies lacked pacing and the whinging protagonist and shitty (in my opinion, ofc) supporting characters just broke it. Doc oc was the most likeable character and he is what lifts the second movie above the others but it's still pretty low for me. I by far prefer the later ones, like iron man and thor. Loud, explosioney and ebteraining, which is what i want when i go see a super hero movie, not mutated dawsons creek.

As for drag me to hell, the thing that sold it for me wa that it just never let up. There were non stop jump scares to the point it got hard to watch. Though admittedly its the kind of movie you only watch once and at a theater for maximum effect. Its not a brilliant öovie but it does what, i assume, it set out to do rather well :)

was that because sony pushed him into using his most hated character (venom) when he wanted to take the story else where using different villans?
I blame Sony for the 3rd pile of shit, rami is is no where near to blame as is the guy on x-men 3 (i was third? director to jump on board after previous ones left (one went to make superman..

You prefer Thor? Sad.

Also Spiderman comics deal with human drama, the relationship between Peter and MJ, etc. "Mutated dawsons creek"? Really?
As a kid I grew up on Spiderman, so your comment is a bit offensive.

I go to an action movie like Mission Impossible for this.
Comic books look great and have action, but they also thrive on a story. If a comic movie is going to be successful, it needs it (just like any comic book). I don't want to see comic characters haphazardly thrown around and turned to shit like Thor and Captain America.
There are decades of stories to pull from with all these movies too, so there are no excuses.

Yeah, but a lot of those stories are poorly written drivel to be fair. At least base on the spider man i did read when i was younger. Also my comments are not generally pointed towards the comics but rather the 3 Raimi movies.

As a movie i prefer Thor. I don't judge them by brand or nostalgia and in the end i though thor was by far more entertaining as a movie. That's pretty much it.

There are plenty that are well written.
Your comments pointed at the Raimi movies, picking at it's story line which represent the comics quite well, become criticisms of the comics as well. You must not have read much of them.

I'm not judging based on nostalgia or brand either. Thor as a film had a shit story, shit acting, terrible dialogue, and was rushed to continue the build up for The Avengers.

You go to these films to be entertained and that's fine. I go for a story and interesting developed characters. It's the only way I can justify spending the dough. Although I did for MI4 due to the reviews and the Batman Prologue deal.
Was a great movie but it's still painful to see horrible characters and a weak plot. It really doesn't deserver the RottenTomatoes score it has whatsoever.

That's kinda what i'm saying though, you don't get especially well developed characters or deep plots in spiderman either, becasue the source material isn't exactly brilliantly written to begin with. Better than Thor perhaps, but in a larget perspective still pretty shit imo. To me i prefer loud and stupid but entertaining over the weak story and characters in the spider man movies that just peters out to a whining drone after half the movie. But that's just how i see it. If you enjoy them then good for you, i'm not here to deny you that. I just stated my point of view.

And really, if the spider man movies are what you consider deep adn developed in the character department i seriously urge you to watch more movies :)
