*drools*

I interested in how they do the bikes, i've never enjoyed driving a virtual bike as much as a virtual car.

And I wonder if you can customise your racing suit?

New Hands-on July 9th. More at the link.

blurbs:

Developer, Bizarre Creations, says AI will be improved in this version, giving opponents more of a vindictive memory of how you drive and more interest in earning their own kudos. But online play, including team-based racing, seems the most interesting way to race.

The roughly 30 licensed motorcycles will be able to race directly against the roughly 100 licensed cars, although the game isn't being promoted as a cars-versus-bikes showdown. Instead, the single-player missions will straddle both vehicles, although online drivers can more easily specialize in one type.

And if your friends aren't around to help win a race, in-game replays and video sharing will recap that glory. Bizarre hopes it'll create a YouTube-like community within the PGR4 interface, and players will first be directed to Gamertag friends' videos before looking though random clips and top-rated movies.

Also... Acert, where the hell did you get that gamespot PGR4 pic? I can't find it on their site.

Sounds good. REALLY good.

And it looks like Halo 3 won't have the monopoly on Sharing movies on Live.

As with the cars in PGR 4, you have a variety of different camera views. While you can get a good look at your custom uniform from the third-person perspective, the best view when riding a bike is the helmet cam. This gives a clear view of your hands on the throttle as your look through the windshield at St. Petersburg during a snowstorm.
I can imagine the inertia and bumpiness now. Still not sold on racing in snow although I think they have the right concept for weather in a racer of its style:
There are ten types of weather in all, ranging for hot and dry to snowstorm. The weather isn't just a cosmetic addition to PGR 4. It's going to change the way your race. As it rains in Quebec, the roads will gradually get slicker and puddles will form. Since Bizarre Creations wants to keep things arcadey, you won't have to worry about wild spinouts or hydroplaning. Instead, you'll find that in heavy rain it "gets looser around the corners." You won't be saying, "Aw crap, it's raining, I better not drive fast." You'll be saying, "I am going to rack up some crazy drift Kudos."
I am hoping for a lot of new online modes. It would be cool if it were the "Halo" of online racers with a ton of modes and variables. This sounds like a nice start: "You'll race with your club online in 4-on-4 team-based race modes including Capture the Flag, Cat & Mouse, and Cops & Robbers. Team-based Kudos will be earned during races, but every point you rack up adds to your single-player total. So whether you decide to race on- or offline, you will always be adding to your bank account."

Sounds like a nice sequal.

I didn't play PGR2 online but I heard it was poster child of Xbox Live at the time. It would be nice if pgr4 was the same along with Halo 3.

Yep, the only real negative I can see there either. I wonder with the MB/DOF they use as well as the speed of the game if lowering tarmack AF is a design decision to use the resources elsewhere that are more noticable? I like HQ AF on roads a lot, but considering how fast the game can be I wonder what their thoughts are on this?

Absolutely awesome shot. Love all the various materials on the bike and how they all look different--painted metal, chrome, plastic, leather, helmet, etc... very nice.

Are those like super high resolution shots downsampled because aliasing is MIA.

Btw the shots are amazing. This is the first shot in the gallery (I haven't even looked at the others). The draw distance is huge yet you see volumetric fog. The world is overcast (crappy lighting situation in real life) yet the image isn't overtly washed out like many games. The detail in the building on the left is amazing. And the bike... wow, the bike... Sure, it has some flaws but looks great overall.

Edit: Some other amazing shots.

Well, when you think about what detail they put into the cars, making an incredible looking human model must be relatively easy with all that geometry to spare. I bet the direction you come at it from is really refreshingly different when you realise there's all this detail you can put into it.
