I tried Lies of P on game pass and was hoping to just keep playing it on that thinking it is just a time killer until spiderman comes out. But after playing it for a while I just couldn't get over the amount of charm and atmosphere this game has built in. The story is actually interesting for me and even without realising I was hooked after a few hours. I'm about 20 hours into the game and maybe near halfway.
I am a huge souls games fan and have been since I played dark souls and demon souls 10 years ago. This game reminded me of my long nights playing dark souls long time ago. The same sense of discovery with the maps and how the developers have taken a set genre and added new stuff that just works so well for me. The sounds of perfect blocks against an enemy is akin to deflects in sekiro. The bosses so far have been very unique and fun. The subtle environmental hints of what is happening in the world. The beautiful music and really quirky npcs just grab me.
I could go on and on but in the end I decided to support these develops even more. Apparently they are a small studio and for them to come up with a game with such character made me want to say thank you. So that they keep making games like this. And it is optimised really well too.
I wanted to support these developers so I bought the game on steam and now can even play it on the go on my steam deck.
