StarCraft 2 is currently scheduled for a release at the end of this year, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime announced today in an Activision Blizzard pre-E3 conference call.

"We're targeting an end of year release--this year--for StarCraft 2," said Morhaime of the PC strategy title, "But as always, we won't release it until it meets our standards and the expectations of our players."

It's sorta BS that this game is being split into a trilogy of releases. We've known for some time that the initial release of Starcraft 2 will only include the Terran campaign. But while it's a little disheartening, I'm just happy that we're getting that much this soon. Perhaps there's some honest hope for seeing Diablo 3 in 2010!
Is that confirmed ???? Only terran ? that seems like the ultimate reason to not buy the game, i will just play Starcraft 1 more

Yes, it's been confirmed for quite a while. There are Zerg and Protoss in MP but no campaigns. They'll be separate releases.

Not necesarrily true, the terran story will feature both zerg and protoss characters. Its one big story and theres plenty of gameplay that's gonna be in the terran campaign.

Blizzard is going to milk this release like no tomorrow. They're going to use backhanded tactics, too. Included in that is turning Starcraft 2 into three games. I would be more surprised to see the expansions come in at a discount than I would be if they're full priced games. This is Blizzard 2010. And I didn't say that the Zerg and Protoss wouldn't be in the Terran campaign, they're fighting Kerrigan after all. That's been the reported plan, over and over, for some time now. If they change their plans that's one thing, but I wouldn't count on it. We'll get a Zerg and Protoss campaigns, but they'll probably be two separate expansions and don't be shocked if they're full price.

All this whining about splitting the game into 3 seperate campaigns is a bit bewildering to me. We will receive amazingly fleshed out and epic story in SC universe. No shortcurs, no compromises, they will tell the story how they wanted it to be told, not the way they where forced to because they had to cut some things to make it for 2010 release. If the content of the Zerg/Protoss campaigns will be good enough I will happily pay the full price for more SC universe awesomeness.

Oh, I don't really care. So long as the shitty feature set in b.net 2.0 doesn't impact Diablo 3 I couldn't really care less. It's just been confirmed as a trilogy a while ago.

Yea, the new BN is suprisingly a step backwards but I guess it will evolve and I'm sure D3 will have it done the right way. Actually, I'm happy it is introduced first in SC2. They got time and playground to make it better for my most anticipated game of all time - Diablo 3 :)

I'm a little concerned with the state of Blizzard Activision these days, and I don't tend to separate one from the other. That said, these titles are far too highly anticipated on my part for me to avoid them. I was able to avoid MW2 on principal, despite being a really, really big Call of Duty fan. Diablo 3 is just too, too tempting though! I'm less into Starcraft, so I might wait until the first campaign is available at a discount, but I doubt I'll be able to hold out until there's a battlechest of the whole set. I'm really bad at multiplayer RTS games (I blame my ADD!), but I really enjoyed the original Starcraft campaign and this looks very good in that respect. I'm sure I'll wind up playing it sooner than later.

Well, on the other hand, the good thing about new BN is the matchmaking system which is really outstanding. Even if you suck you will be playing with people who also suck, so you might actually enjoy it :) And besides that, Blizz introduced so called 'challenge missions' serving as a gap between single and multiplayer experience. They vary in difficulty and teach you how to play SCII in multiplayer - pretty neat feature, if you ask me.

The game is 60 Dollars as a Digital download in the US, and it 60 EURO'S here in Europe??
60 EURO'S and I don't even get a freaking disc....

Fuck that I'll order it from a shop and wait for it...

Everything just oozes quality.
The missions are varied and still fun even the early ones when you don't have a lot of different units.
U can spend credits on hiring Mercs that you can recruit during missions and you can buy upgrades for all units you get.
Also the Sp has a TON of units that aren't available in Multiplayer like the good old Firebat and the Goliath...

The between missions base sections are also really funny and interesting to check out!

Blizzard I bow in respect of another quality product!

Yes, I do. It was my most played genre back in 90's so I got burned off a bit with the genre until I played Company of Heroes, which reminded me how fun it can be, it's my mostplayed multiplayer game in the last 5 years. That reminds me, I still need to play Chaos Rising.

Well to be perfectly fair, you can't really speak of the "deep adventure game" as being something in addition to the "creative upgrades." The adventurish stuff between missions is really only comprised of said upgrading with some "click here for some story" mixed in.

So i caved in. Got the collectors edition for 40€, had a 40€ coupon to use on a store :P

Played some missions from the campaign, great stuff so far. Blizzard doesn't disappoint.

Pretty meh, guest passes seem to be region locked :&

I am pretty sure it unlocks the full game for 7 hours but I haven't tested if the MP works. It counts the time when you actually run the game (main menus count too so don't let it idle there), so no need to sit 7 hours straight :P I have 5hours and some minutes left currently.

Damn that's lame. Region locked guest passes :/ maybe try to make other region account for the pass? I dunno if it works but worth the try.
