In Oblivion I felt that they did a good job of conveying certain things like blocking. I like the Block/swing dynamic myself. A sword swing, or even hammer swing (if blocked) is not going to stagger you every time. A sword is going to slice right through you (or deflect of the surface of armor), and unless you want insta-kills everytime, you have to accept that there will be multiple swings involved. I think it is much more noticeable in first person too.

I also think that it may have to do with complicating gameplay. If you give animated feedback for every hit you do to an enemy then it should apply to you too in 3rd person animations.

Who wants to spend all their time in combat being staggered and stunlocked in scripted recoil animations for EVERY hit? This is where I actually think that Oblivion had it right, player recoils for being hit with power attacks, critical hits and block rebuffs. Otherwise I think it'd just get too broken up and slow for combat to go anywhere, nerfing the exploration experience as well because if you can't get somewhere at a reasonable pace without avoiding combat why have it in the first place?

I believe the No. 5 got elected since it was so ahead of the other ones, I can't say I disagree though she is kinda pretty lol.
