Unlike in Oblivion, I don't think that'll be such a bad decision.
I can't conclude such a thing one way or the other at this point. I just know that every Bethesda game I've ever played is way better in first person.

I know, and I'm going to hazard a guess that this also will be - well, maybe not way better... hopefully not anyway.

I do think it's something they're going to make sure is significantly improved though. Considering that it's an RPG, it would be nice for the third person perspective to be good enough to have it as a realistic option.

I don't think it's lame at all - that's what I was kinda hinting at when I said it'd be nice to have a good third person perspective considering it's an RPG. Customisation and character creation is a huge part of the game; I always love to see what my dude/dudette looks like, especially in a fantasy setting where I find the loot most interesting.

Oh well, I don't think it will suck that bad, I read somewhere that they are making it more playable, the third person perspective that is.

You can still look at your toon.. and the first person camera is way more immersive anyway.

But if the animations are great I will mix 3rd to first person, first person has a better feel when you are engaging in combat, you feel like you ARE the character in that world.

What happens when you don't want or need to feel "YOU" are the character in that world but to see "A" character with awesome armors and weapons in that world and it will be controlled by you?

I don't want immersion, I don't need it.

That's the reason I will play in third person well one of the reasons anyway other being I don't like FPS in a RPG, I can tolerate it in a shoter but not in a RPG, I want to see my character all badass. :)

But hey, we will get both things so its awesome both ways, we win, we all win, let's sing......

You also get a better view of awesome weapons and items in first person, since you can see them literally right in front of your eyes instead of dozens of feet away from the camera.

That's what I mean--items that you can carry are viewed in much higher detail in first person. Do you also play the game with the camera facing your toon so you can see his or her face? I mean you wouldn't want to miss out on that side of your avatar, right? I just hope they turn it into an action game. And add cargo pants. And hopefully some half naked women and give me a way to play it by mashing buttons.

Oh and beards. I want some epic fantasy beards.

Its clearly better to play it in FP view I agree, but I keep hoping it will not suck that mmuch in 3rd person so I can enjoy it like you in FP view.

How knows maybe this new engine will feel alot better that it felt in Oblivion to me and I end up playing in FP view too.

I love the First person view, but I also would like the option to pop out into a workable 3pv every now and then. I am an aspiring character artist after-all. The design looks to be worth the view as well this time. The 3PV in their previous games was utter shit, though. Attaching the camera to the character in such a rigid and pulled out way back was just a ridiculous notion...

Well I like that you can use both in all the other Bethesda games. You can always get a good look at your character when you're not performing some other task that doesn't work well in third person. It also wasn't just an issue with the positioning of the camera either. It had a lot to do with how your model interacted with the environment, which wasn't very convincing. You just sorta look like you're floating along surfaces, in a very disconnected and poorly animated manner.

No joke. It always made me think of a 90's PC game, lol. I DO hope they keep the way you could pick up any object and throw it around, I just want to see it expressed visually( ie see the character pick it up)...

Hate FP view, I duno what it is about FP games but they ruin the experience compleyely for me.

I would have enjoyed both Eternian Oddysey and SMT:Strange Journey more if they had been third person.

FOV makes a huge difference in first person view. It needs to be at least 95 degrees or it feels like tunnel vision compared to third person.
