By the way Grift, has Halo 3 been fixed yet? Are we still playing 6 player matches in "lonewolves"

Five players.. and I don't think lonewolves will change anytime soon. I actually like that playlist though. Big lag battle is now the proper 16 players now. It's still unranked.. but I honestly don't think Halo 3 is well suited for BTB anyway. The 4v4, 5v5 and 2v2 playlists are all more fun imo.

Too many maps designed around smaller groups.. and unless you have a full squad you're pretty much assured to have multiple idiots on your team in BTB.

If bigger vehicle heavy battles are your thing theres always bad company and FFOW anyway.

I miss Tribes.

I would hate a lower player cap in this, smaller games are rather rubbish imo.

I'd be very happy if it was capped at 8 players, never been a fan of Big team battles, its just choatic skilless mayhem!

Im pissed, i got it about a week ago, beat portal, Epi 1 + 2 so all i got is TF2, which should be great.

yeah i was getting great FPS's, then steam released the most redundant update ever, which took my constant FPS of around 30-40 down to 10, so now that was a complete waste. Thanks valve.

The game isn't very well designed for large groups of players at all. Not to mention the terrible lag issues Halo 3 has. I'm starting not to care if BTB ever goes ranked. I don't remember it being so bad in Halo 2.

Depends on the games design imo.. I loved Gears of War and that was simply 4v4 and it worked rather well. Having to stick to such a low player cap just because the technology prevents going anywhere else with it does sorta suck though.

just finished both Portal and Ep2 (had already played HL2 and EP1 when they came out) and want to show some love to these two games, which are in my opinion absolute marvels.
Portal for being, as a bonus gimmick, such a huge surprise. Unrivaled humor, very creative and inventive, truly truly original. And what pleased me most was seeing an underlying "story" in what simply appeared a bunch of puzzles, which was hinted here and there, and then gracefully unveiled in a grand finale. Top, really top stuff that should go down in this year's history as a breath of fresh air in the midst of this "next-gen" craze.

EP2, the second gem of the pack. Interactive storytelling like rarely i've seen. The acting of the actors is so so incredible, the emotions in their faces just so real and human! And it's all ingame (as it always has been). Look, at one point i was driving with alyx, and i looked at her and she looked back and winked! So human and natural. Or some other occasion Doc. Magnunnsen was saying some nasty inconvenient stuff and Alyx was looking back at me when i looked at her with a scornful expression. Little details, but all ingame and at the pace of the game, super natural and emotional conveying.

Other than that, the action very well distributed, always marked with antecipation (not this boring shooting orgy so many times seen), and a astounding use of music too.

Too sum it up, two great gems. Valve is surely on the right track to take games closer to a art form. Others are trying (Bioshock...) but failing a bit short, but EP2 and Portal are surely there.

Great comments, I've still only got Portal but I already own HL2 & EP1.

Hoping to get the O'Box for xmas on 360 as Ep2 looks superb and TF2 looks interesting!

I played through Half-life 2, got right near the end (where the tripod comes through the wall of the citadel) and then ot froze. Which is a bug and i can't finish it, grr. On Ep 1 now and a bit bored, can't wait to finish so I can play Ep 2.

EP1 is the least of the 3 HL2 games, I'll agree on that.. EP2 is the best.. Good thing EP1 is also the shortest, you should be able to finish it in 5-6 hours..

To bad you cannot finish HL2 because of a bug (Xbox 360 version I presume?), but it bassicly ends with you blowing up the citadel, and that's where EP1 starts..

Episode 1 is probably the worst out of the three but I still think its a damn fine game. Its really short though. Only takes about 3 hours. There are some great moments in it though. The elevator fight is awesome. The end sequence is amazing to look at.
