Buy Jamestown. It's seriously fucking great. It's everything I love about the modern indie scene--and it's a pretty fuckin' good shmup! It has really wonderful pixel art, a weird alternate history plot, awesome music, unique gameplay, and a campaign with a ton of levels of difficulty from pretty easy to fucking ridiculous. The only downside? It only has local co-op, which isn't super viable for a lot of PC users. Great at this price. Wonderful game.

so the 4 player thing is overhyped, I hope? I was worried it might only be a good game if you had a team of dewds.

I'm enjoying it SP, but I can tell it would be so much better with co-op partners. I actually have been looking for local co-op enabled PC games, which are far more rare than the online variety, so I'm not totally distraught.

You don't like a lot of really awesome things. People should take this as another vote of confidence for Jamestown :P

Yeah the lake of MP is kind of disappointing.. Although the game itself is great!

Also no powerups is a bit of a bummer! Always love trying out different weapons / rockets / bombs...
Still the different ships take care of that..

Yeah Jamestown is really great game! Is there any more shmup's at Steam?

Also higher difficulties adds more bullets :P Strangely enough I think level 2 is the hardest :P

I still think that classic game Raptor: Call of the shadows is THE best smup that was ever made, but to be honest I haven't played a lot of different ones, but Raptor for me is the best.

I just loved that you could buy lots of different stuff, like bombs, shields, missle's, lasers, etc.
I think it's on GoG.com as well.

All I'm saying is not my genre lol. I haven't played the game.

I know I'm very late with this one, but anyone up for some Lara Croft coop tomorrow?

On the shmup genre, but off the Steam Deals topic, is "Hydorah" - http://www.locomalito.com/juegos_hydorah.php
Highly inspired by the great classics; difficulty and all :D

It's free and doesn't even require an installation, and the pixels are sublime.
I really like it. It's a keeper.

Sorry if you've already heard of it, I just discovered it a couple weeks ago.

One note: it only recognizes the left analog stick on the 360 controller, so I had to use 'Joystick 2 Mouse 3' to map my d-pad to the arrow keys, then it was perfect.
Either way it's better than using a keyboard only! (poor sob's)

That looks really nice. I'll check it out!

Feature list sounds cool
Old school feeling and 16 bit appeal
Smooth and addictive playability
16 levels (27 sublevels), 30 bosses and a library of more than 70 different enemies
A single difficulty level, hard but fair.
It requires the player to improve himself and his skills in order to master the situations
Route selection
Weapon selection menu, power ups, and unlockable new weapons in every mission
Dark background and brilliant bullets that lets the player see clearly what is happening around

Does look cool, and I have a soft spot for Gradius, so it's pushing the right buttons.

Made out pretty good at Steam today.

What I got:

Supreme Commander II at 75% off ($3.74) http://store.steampowered.com/app/40100/?snr=1_4_4...
(had that one on the wishlist for a while)

Capsized at 50% off ($4.99) http://store.steampowered.com/app/95300/?snr=1_4_4...

Zen Bound 2 at 80% off ($1.00) http://store.steampowered.com/app/61600/?snr=1_4_4...

Not going to look. I wasted enough money as it is already!

I did buy Zen Bound 2 yesterday and tested it out a bit. It's pretty damn fun game.

also liking zen bound 2. I can't seem to achieve three flowers on anything past the Tree of Introduction though.

I guess I'm not zen :(

Yeah it gets really hard to get 3 flowers after the first levels. No matter how many times I try it again I always block some areas with the rope. It's still really fun to just try to get 2 flowers :P

Highly recommend Dungeons of Dredmor. Never really been into roguelikes before, but this looks great and has an awesome sense of humour to go with it. Seems like it will be getting plenty of updates as well, and it also has mod support!

EDIT - Never mind, it does have leaderboards in the Community tab! Nice!

Got it 2 days ago, loving it! Thanks for the tip!

Btw found this on Neogaf;
You can pre-order the standard edition of Deus Ex: HR for 28.80$ over at GreenManGaming if you use the voucher FACEB-JULY2-20PEC or GETYO-URWAN-DOUT1:

http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/...an-revoluti...

Since the game is steamworks, you can activate it on steam.
Game was 28,80 Euro.
It'll give you a code on 23rd of august that let's you enter it in steam and download the game...

Pretty good deal if you ask me!

Edit;
Here's the link to the thread on Neogaf;

Toki Tori is great! I might have to buy Two Tribes' other game now (Rush); it looks interesting.

@FireWire: that's a killer deal. Any experiences with the Greenman Gaming service?
