Doesn't really mean anything. Although it does indicate that the backspace key will bring up a battlelog overlay in BF4. NEAT :D

Maybe. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the mix of games. I think us Brits have a different perspective mind as it's £429 here. That's more expensive than the PS3 was at launch. Now we're used to getting done on the currency conversion but I'd wager there would be a lot less positivity if they announced $599 as the price but that's effectively what we're getting.

Must be EU I imagine. Normally we pay over the odds here but not by this much. That said, I think the game retail competition means we get better deals on games. We almost never pay RRP for example with no effort whatsoever, so it's swings and round-abouts to an extent.

I don't think it'll stay at that price for long to be honest. 360 did very well here in spite of the Playstation heritage but I don't think a huge amount will hesitate if the PS4 comes in at £350 odd.

I hope they are forced to backtrack on their 2nd hand games policies and online authentication and they really need to lower the price of the console because at this rate, Sony will easily come on top next gen.

Over here they are especially fucked and this is the Xbox's second biggest single market. I don't think it's given they will backtrack in the near future either. If anything, I can see Mattrick and co. doubling down on the set-top box TV stuff to differentiate themselves instead. Moreover, similar to the PS3 they are probably losing a ton of money still even at $499 with the Kinnect stuff in the box.

I feel a bit sorry for Phil Harrison in a way because he's clearly achieved a fair bit in terms of getting developers on board in a short period of time. I was expecting much more leaning on 3rd parties and Kinnect yesterday. No way would they have had games like D4 and Below at their conference if he wasn't around. He is most definitely on the wrong horse at the moment.

There will be the usual first week blow-out but after that I envisage getting hold of an Xbox One will be quite easy. I think there will be a price cut in a year or so once they see how badly it's going. Whether they try to wait and see if Halo 5 can move the needle on it's own first is a matter of conjecture.

The most impressive game they had to show was Titanfall and that's 2014 anyway. Really there is very little reason for anyone to buy and Xbox One in 2013 as far as I can see. Forza is much of a muchness at this point. Ryse looks very stylish but the combat looks old fashioned post Assassins Creed and Arkham. There isn't even really a big headline FPS for this year of their own making and given the debt Xbox owes to Halo that is rather ironic.

After the beating they took yesterday during Sony's conference, I'm sure watching Bungie swan about with Destiny at the end was especially grating.

It's really a shame that the Xbox One has all those negatives. A console sans DRM and Kinect at $299 would have my name on it all day. They did have the better conference, and arguably the better lineup to show. Having a big pool of cash at your disposal helps to get a couple big third party exclusives.

I really wouldn't get too excited about Killer Instinct though. RARE is still split working on yet another secret title and Kinect Sports 2, so they're bringing in the developers of some really bad games :/.

Halo 5: Cloak will probably be the first game to come close tempting me, but that's not for a whole nother E3! Multiplayer exclusives would be long abandoned by the time I'd adopt one, so it'd be primarily SP exclusives for this console in my house.

No idea, but it summed up my excitement at not just the Halo 5 reveal, but the press conference in general. Microsoft's press conference was one of the strongest I've seen in awhile. The console has a very strong looking lineup, and quite a few of them were exclusives. If people take a step back and really look at that list, it's clearly no joke. That Killer Instinct news, on all fronts, is actually good news. It means the investment into Killer Instinct isn't all that significant. I much prefer Rare's time be spent on a title with far more potential. I know some people wanted Killer Instinct, and even I thought I wanted it at one point, but it became fairly obvious very quickly that Rare's time and resources are better focused on projects with far more potential to actually help the platform and excite gamers, such as maybe Kameo, a proper Banjo, or some new IP along those lines. A 2D fighter is not the kind of game Rare needs to be making right now. That ship has sailed mostly, and it pleases me that they had the sense to not buy into the idea that all they had to do was just release a killer instinct game, and then they would have a mega hit on their hands. You invest only about as much as you think you'll get out of it. Free to play and digital download only says it all, and I'm quite happy that this is the case and they were smart enough to not put all their eggs in that basket.

Sony's biggest accomplishment last night was the price, and how it further reinforced my intent to own both consoles by offering the PS4 at a price that was, for all intents and purposes, impulse buy price. I pre-ordered both on Amazon yesterday. The Xbox will be perfectly fine, because it has a really strong looking lineup of games. I think Xbox had the notably stronger conference as far as new, big game announcements for the console were concerned. Sony will win some headlines and be on many people's good graces with the way they threw haymakers at the Xbox One on the used games, online requirement issue, and especially with the way they shocked people by undercutting the One on price, but all this in itself still doesn't effectively hand Sony dominance with a bow on top. However, the PS4 undercutting the Xbox One is not insignificant, either. Microsoft's almost certain to be massive marketing budget is another important factor in this whole equation

A $100 price difference may push people towards the PS4 who were only planning on owning one of the two consoles, or who literally see no compelling reason to want to play any particular game on the Xbox One, but we already know that won't be true for everyone. There are plenty of people willing to spend an extra $100 to get the game/games they really want, and it goes even beyond that. You have people that absolutely won't buy the new xbox based on the policies, and then you have people who actually want to buy the new xbox because they like certain aspects of the console's featureset and services. In other words, we have absolutely no idea what most consumers will do until these things are released.

Meaningless right now, but the way some are talking, you'd think that the Xbox was going to get demolished at retail.

The MS Conf was great, one of the best i've seen in a long while, there were a number of exclusives that will make me pick it up, but the ps4 at $399 will mean its added also.
