Optimus: It's not impossible to be a man and still have a husband. Not that i'm implying anything, i'm just saying.
Oh I know that, but since I always thought of wuffyx as a guy, I was a bit caught off guard when I thought "he" was saying "he" had a husband. Not that there's anything wrong with that since people are free to make their own decisions.

I apologize ahead of time for this, but I always thought you were a guy so the moment I saw you say your husband I accidentally knocked over a bottle of soda in surprise lol.
No worries. I don't really advertise that I'm a girl. :)

Anyway going back to the game, I was a little surprised that it can be quite hard too. If you take out the Valkyrie, the game would be so frustrating. Although the Valkyrie sequence does get annoying at times.

Yup I think the balancing in the game is way off, especially the ammount of enemies you sometimes end up being mobbed by.

My roommate has it, and after about 5-6 hours(a LOT of which has been spent in the inventory screens), I'm part way through the last level. I am enjoying it, but man, it is a shitty, shitty game.

The art design of the levels(3rd is absolutely fantastic!) and the character customization(visually) are the only aspects that are at least competently well-done. I honestly can't believe that the game was play-tested at any great lengths due to how sloppy some things are(the combat...) or how completely needlessly tedious other things are(trudging through cyberspace...why the hell do I have to always walk back to the well to exit but can head to Aesir anytime I want?).

What an amateurish attempt at game-making.

Man people really don't get the combat. The combat is a huge favorable point to this game. A few minor tweaks, namely to the ranged targeting, and SK will have a truly superb combat system. Definitately way above button mashers like DMC, GOW, or NG2 for me. Having spent roughlhy 35 hours with a human berserker, my killing sprees are truly epic.

I have awesome killing sprees as well(when they aren't interrupted by Baldur sliding into a group of explosive enemies as opposed to doing the intended fierce attack), but they can really only be considered awesome within Too Human.

I had originally thought that the combat was pretty decent and that people complaining just didn't give it enough time, but after spending more time with it, it really just became more evident how horrible it really is.

My husband just finished the game...and wow that was some nice plot...

Initially I thought this game would follow Norse mythology at the start, with Baldur dying in the end. I was so surprised when I realized that this takes place after Baldur's death and is essentially the start of Ragnarok. So far I'm liking the twists that have been presented in the game.

I also really enjoyed it. It really changes the way you look at Baldur through the game, his distant stare and lack of emotion is deliberate. Also how his "siblings" treat him (both in terms of having been brought back from the dead but also being ODINs favourite and having the rules broken so he could be resurrected)

Also the ending... when Loki looks up and then it switches to his view of the Frost Giant! That is how you do a cliffhanger.

I need to play more of this game, but I've been having so much fun with Vesperia that I haven't had the time to jump into it at any decent length yet.

Well isn't that 135k just for a weeks worth of sales? If it sells anywhere close to that next week it will already be in the 270k range and this is only for it's first week in the USA. If it's at all correct that is.

I'm not gonna go trough this whole thread to look if u guys talked about the following:

I just hired the game, started it up and played it for half an hour.. (my gf wanted to watch a movie)

Anyway what suprised me is that there is not any form of tutorial involved??? Did i miss something or? are those text boxes that pop up the only thing I'm gonna get?
Not the best start to a game ever...
I still have to figure out the melee combat...
Does anyone have recommendation for the camera mode? cause strategic mode is annoying the fuck out of me...

Will get back with more impressions later

I am so unbelievably grateful that the game didn't have a mandatory tutorial. I absolutely despise tutorial levels(and even text boxes are frustratingly annoying) and have, at least with demos, not given a game a chance because it's ridiculous tutorial level was TOO damn slow and TOO damn boring.

I am normally like you ronsauce, I hate tutorials because they treat you like a retard and take way too long... But in this game a bigger bit of a tutorial might have been a good idea...

There are tutorials hidden in the weapon and armour store, and I mean hidden. Walk up to different areas and you can hit A to get an on-screen text box that tells you some tactics. Probably would have been better to have them all in one place to be honest.

yeah I just found that out this morning... My impressions so far:

The story seems pretty good and I like the cutscenes... The whole loot hunting is pretty addictive and seems well implemented. I wasn't particularly fond of the inverntory system, but after a while it grows on me..
Combat is horrible implemented though.. I know what i'm doing but the analog stick combo is not really a good thing in my opinion.. It almost feels broken... The gameplay seems also a bit shalow. Go there, kill that, get treasure, Go there, kill that, get treasure.. ETC...

If the combat would be better implemented (and deeper, more moves, more skills) it would be an awesome game.. Now because one of the major gameplay elements feels broken, the game is a shadow of what it could have been....
It's entertaining though, but I don't know how long that will be with these big flaws...

The thing about the story is that its concept is golden, but it really isn't presented in any half-decent way either. I honestly didn't care a single bit about any of the characters, their actions, or their motives. The major plot elements had less of an effect on me than the smallest of encounters in Mass Effect.

It would have been nice if, in addition to creating actual good unbroken combat, SK had went really in depth with the lore of the game ala Mass Effect instead of completely eschewing it in favour of what?... poorly written repetitive dialogue?

Gahh!!! It's really frustrating how hard this game fails at key things like gameplay and story.

I hope that MS will let them make a way better sequal although I can't blame MS for cutting funds or dumping the whole project....

And about the supossed 12 year development period.. I think they got a little bit blinded on their on product...

They spent 4 years on this incarnation of the game, no more.

As for the story, it is actually pretty good but presented (perhaps wrongly) in a non-linear fashion and with some very strange choices of camera angle and dialogue at times.
